So heres the lowdown of how things went downhill today for me

I wanted to upgrade to 2.1 (let me say it was a bad idea in my case)

so since i did not have Root i decided to Root my streak using Superuser, It dint work (i tried like 4 or 5 times) after that i used Unversal Androot ( I selected the 1.5/1.6 version) and it rooted

after that i downloaded the update file, renamed it and put it in my SD card..i powered on my dell streak while holding down the volume buttons and selected option 2!.. i pressed the shutter button to start the process..after everything was done my phone now only shows the Dell logo

please please HELP.... i just got this phone 2 days back...

thanks

Firstly I doubt you've bricked it, that's like saying you beheaded yourself when you were shaving...

What Rom were you running before?

Either go back into recovery and try again, or take the 4399 update.pkg and copy it to your card with a card reader and do recovery with that.

You really need to take time to read before messing about with upgrading beta stuff if billy don't know what you're doing...

default Rom doent help.. is that o2, unlocked UK, Europe, at&t or at&t beta? As they all have default Roms..

To get 2.1working then you need to flash the boot.img that Adam provide on xda, I presume that's you that posted on there as well.. to flash it you need to use Facebook. If you've used superboot from Paul to try and root it you must have done this already... to do the commands (in windows) press start type cmd and press return.

A command window will appear.. drag the Facebook-windows executive from the superboot folder to the command window and type the rest of the rest line in as written.

If you're on o2 and don't want to stick with 2.1 then get the stock 4399 build from dellupdate. there's plenty of links to it and follow the guide to restore to stock on this very forum.

basically rename it update.pkg and, copy it to the sdcard and go through recovery to flash it

to get boot with 2.1 either use adamg boot.img or the root program, I linked to the other day. the program worked fine for me

if you don't know what root is for, then you don't need root

It's not bricked. Follow these steps and it will work.

1. make sure you have the factory recovery image installed. IF not, download it and install it using fastboot

2. Download the factory rom (non root) and put it at root of SD card named Update.pkg.

3. flash the factory rom using factory recovery image

3. download 2.1 and rename to Update.pkg and put it at the root of SD card

4. flash 2.1 rom using factory recovery image.

5. Reboot if necessary!

You need to install the Dell PC Suite on your computer for it to work in fastboot mode. You can get this from the dell support webpage for the streak.

However, like me and many others here you'll find this stock recovery image thing does not work at all. It just black screens when you tell it to recover using the Update.pkg file.
