Guest johnnobts Posted August 15, 2010 Report Posted August 15, 2010 Just got my Dell Streak (US version) today, installed battery left it to charge. after a few hours, unplugged it, tried to turn it on, but no luck. Would only power on when plugged into USB cable (either to wall or PC). All it shows is an empty battery logo with an exclamation point. The battery has a charge to it, I tested it on my friend's unit. Anyone else had this problem with their streak?

(No contract). Last week the following happened. There had been no probs until then. 3 times I charged the Streak overnight and then disconnected the unit. There was no way that it could be switched on until I removed the battery and after replacing it back in the unit, it started up as normal with no problems. I have also seen the empty battery logo with the exclamation mark. Yes again the battery was actually fully charged. I have reported this to Dell and they are sending another Streak tomorrow via O2 (swap). Will see how the new unit goes. This was on the standard 1.6 as I have not attempted any updates as yet. Would love to try the 2.1 update but lets see how the new unit performs first. (Incase I brick it) Edited August 15, 2010 by IanT
Guest d1kk1e Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 I get this problem if I let the battery get completely flat. I try not to do it often, I don't think it damages the battery or anything (there's a built in monitoring system to stop the LiPo getting so low it damages it) but its annoying to fix it. are you charging via a correct usb port - for some reason you can't just use any one. I also find taking the battey out for a minute or two sometimes sorts it out
Guest j7seven Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 I had this at the weekend for the first time. It appeared that the battery was completely flat (after I foolishly didn't put it on charge when I went to sleep in a hotel room with next to no signal - it must've spent the night struggling to maintain network access and died). Tried to charge it in the car for a 200+ mile journey and no dice. Same when connected to a laptop. When I eventually got the chance to plug in using the mains adapter it charged up no problem. Guessed that it wasn't happy to charge over USB when the battery has very little charge. I take it the supplied mains adapter pushes more juice?
Guest johnnobts Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 well my replacement arrives today at some point (they were supposed to send me out a red one instead this time but apparently did not). they didn't send me a replacement battery, so hopefully it was just a problem with the unit. I was able to fully charge the battery once and use the device, until I had to open it up and install my sim card. after that the battery wasn't detected anymore. Was unable to get it working after that single successful attempt. hope the replacement works ok.
Guest Loconinja Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 (edited) I left my Streak unplugged last night and now I am getting this issue. Is there a solution? Edited to add: OK, in my case, this was because the USB cable was not pushed fully into the chargeing adaptor. I hope that helps someone else? Edited September 5, 2010 by Loconinja
