GPS Query

i was just curious to know - How much times does it takes for ur phone to get a GPS fix i.e. how much times does ur phone takes to locate u with GPS ??

is there any ways to make it faster . i m using garmin mobiles xt software with samsung XTRA server enabled but still i get a gps fix in 8-10 mins .. way too long .Any tweaks or something to make it little faster

P.S.- i tried this trick (http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-omnia-http-omnia-modaco-com/275659/permanent-gps-fix-for-samsung-i900-i8000-omnia/) found in this forum , but it was useless . I had to hard reset the phone :D

iam running stock rom jc2, when in google maps i get a fix within a minute if de gps serverdata is up 2 date

google maps is a different story all together ..coz it uses data connection & I think it locates via cellphone towers.I m talking abt stand alone GPS navigation software

Hi!

I don't have a data plan and I'm not using Google Maps, so my GPS program (Agis NavFone) takes anywhere from 5-15 minutes to get a lock. Sometimes I have to quit the program and run it again before it actually acquires a position fix.

gpsmod helps to get a faster lock, I get a lock within 40 seconds.

In TomTom or Google Maps, the GPS in my B7610 usually has a fix within the minute.

I have try many ROM but finally i found that it depends on EBOOT and PHONE bin , So i think these can help people to solve the problem of recieving GPS SIGNAL .

It does't matter which ROM you want to have as your appreciate, But you can flash in with this EBOOT and PHONE.BIN. IF STILL NOT WORK, MAYBE YOU NEED TO FLASH YOUR ROM AGAIN WITH OCTRANS 2.14

my experience in getting standalone GRS working:

1. connect your phone to computer or wifi

2. samsung setting - general setting - GPS - XTRA - Download XTRA Data

3. Make sure your Data is within valid period

4. disconnect your phone from computer or wifi, go outside

5. start GPS software to get it fixed

no problem with any language but once i have try to install gpsmoddriver , it made my GPS DEAD , So just maybe remove gps moddriver . But the two EBOOT and PHONE.BIN will not effect your language , They are just to communicate between GPS revieving signal . If it still not work , you may format your phone again with your PREFER ROM and try my EBOOT AND PHONE.BIN Suggestion.

I have many times format my fone to get the best , but you know . I HAVE TO PUT BACK AGAIN PROGRAMES AND DATA.

HOPE YOU WILL GET THAT.

IF you have Garmin mobile xt Navigator , you can fix at the first time by let normal defaut setting . After Garmin recieve already Signal Then you can choose to use the menu on top left of Garmin ( signal level ) ====>>> USE GPS INTERMEDIATE DRIVER , instead of SERIAL GPS.

HAVE A GOOD NAVIGATION.
