Guest peekofai Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 Summary: 1. On Friday 13th, Streak 1.6 reset itself to factory settings (I assumed it had done so in my pocket) 2. Decided might as well put 2.1 on if restoring things. 3. Used Androot 1-click root 4. Upgraded to 2.1 and tried to restore some apps and settings using Titanium Backup 5. Streak started randomly rebooting (and alerting me about there being no sim) 6. To get the Streak to stay pon long enough, I quickly put it in airline mode, did some backups and reverted to factory settings (Now being 2.1) 7. Spent hours restoring apps and settings 8. Sunday 15th... Dell Streak 2.1 randomly reboots and comes back up as stock 2.1 (but kept my SMSes). All other apps removed. 9. I have spent a lot more time and effort to put everything back but feel like I'm on a ticking time bomb Detail: In addition to above I think it's worth mentioning that Titanium backup could NOT restore my backed up SMSes from 1.6 to 2.1, I dont know whether that is normal or not but I've lost 3 months of SMSes (i send myself a lot of reminders etc) When I have restored some apps with Titanium, trying to start them results in a force close error unless I remove it and re-install. Can be a pain when you're dealing with 50 apps The only apps installed that use root are Titanium Backup and ShootMe I updated using the volume keys and power button combination. I'm not sure here, but it's possible I might have rooted the day before all this started. ++++ Questions: 1. Has anyone else had the streak reset itself to factory settings? It does this and asks you to choose the language and goes through all the tutorials 2. Is there any way to force a password to be requested before a command to reset is actioned? 3. Is there any way to restore titanium backups across 1.6 --> 2.1? -END-

My one worry now is that it might randomly reset itselt to "Factory" 2.1 Other than that, I love my streak. I hope it was just a case of lighting striking twice in the same location. Google doesnt seem to have any cases of anyone's android reseting itself to factory without any actions from them
