Hi,

I have been looking for a cheap android phone and have taken a good liking to the T-Mobile Pulse Mini.

Thing is i notice on the t-mobile uk website that there is two types; Pulse and Pulse Mini.

From what i can tell the Pulse Mini is better but the Pulse has a bigger screen.

Can someone tell me which one is best the pulse or pulse mini?

I think from reading the spec the pulse mini but want to be sure before going out to buy one.

There seems to be several versions. When i buy one should i be checking for a certain version like latest version? if so what version number should i be looking for?

Thanks for any help

Well the mini is newer and has better specs, with restrictions to the screen size and resolution. The big Pulse has memory problems, but if you are looking for an android phone to get to know what android is all about, and are not afraid to flash and re-flash it almost on a weekly basis, then I'd recommend the big Pulse :D

The pulse mini has a resistive screen, which is considered to suck

id go for the big pulse. t-moible store tried to sell me a mini (i asked for a big pulse not the mini. he said ok and i waited around for 10 mins only for him to bring out a mini and pretend it was not a mini lol)

screen is way way to small. not as responsive.

and surely once we have the source for the big pulse, then we can make a proper firmware for the pulse which will make the lake of ram/memory a much smaller problem?

I think you should probably save yourself from the pulse and get a Samsung galaxy portal which is similarly priced, but a much better phone

I have the big pulse and my dad has the mini and I much prefer the big pulse, the screen on the mini is crap tbh.

I'd go for a newer phone to be honest, or, as suggested a Samsung Galaxy Portal / Spica (/i5700) :D

I want a replacement for my Pulse (since its a bit broken) and I'm really wanting a Spica, cos I see no cheap Desires! :D

+1

But between the Pulse and Pulse mini:

If you have small fingers then go for the mini (Screen is responsive but sooooo small)

If you have manly fingers then go for a.. Spica!

Honestly the Pulse is not something you want! Its time has come and gone and now sucks

Is it strange for a community to hate what it is based on? :D

I don't agree with the Spica over Pulse approach.

It always depends on your needs. Pulse has a much better screen, and its buttons are more usable (at least for me.) Plus, its battery seems better than Spica battery.

So first, you determine the intended usage, then choose your phone.

Pulse is very good for browsing, reading, mailing, instant messaging. It is not so good at memory intensive apps.

Spica is very good for mailing, navigation, gaming. Less good for reading, browsing.

Actually the Spica does all those things better than the Pulse.

Better browsing as when you get a text / phone call you can resume browsing where you left off. With the Pulse you have to start all over again! (Plus you will miss that text as you were using to much RAM browsing)

E-Books.. Get used to having to re-find your page after a text / call

Granted. The larger screen is nice.. But it's not worth it!

I hate to advertise myself, but with my memory tweaks it is not a problem anymore (okay, I cannot OBEX sync, and no pc sync).

also, with 1.5 Pulse multitasks well. (I didnt try 2.1 with spica, only the old 1.x)

you find it here in a topic, its title is something like "removing unneeded things from 2.1"
