I MUST use the stock recovery image to flash the Dell update.pkg

Guest fards Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 (edited) ok cool .will the androot version work or are the problems with it . i keep trying to do through fastboot by typing in command prompt but that dont work either just keeps coming up fastboot-windows.exe is not recognised internal or external program thanks for the help thats because youre not working in the correct folder.. drag the fastboot-windows.exe to the CMD that will give you the correct path to the filename in the CMD window ... then you can carry on typing the rest of the command line.. thats the easyway.. are you trying to flash the stock recovery? I guess you I'll do you a .bat file for it, although learning to do stuff manually is much better for your soul :D unzip this to a folder.. its got all the bits you need I think.. run the .bat file. let me know if it works.4399stockrecovery.zip Edited August 16, 2010 by fards

Just run the exe for windows and it will install the flash recovery. I know you (fards) dont need it, but others may. Edit: haha beat me to it :DStock_recovery.rar Edited August 16, 2010 by courtlandre
Guest fards Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 (edited) cheers done it been trying to write in properly for 2 days did not know you could drag it lol do i feel stupid . lol tbh its a pretty basic thing, but if you've never played with dos and the command line in windows (CMD is better than it used to be no matter what some people think) then you're unlikely to know it .. however you really need to get the hang of CD DIR etc.. you can auto complete using TAB Key as well, so if you want to access a path such as C:\mystuff\really\should\thunk\of better\examples.exe you could type c:\my press TAB and it will fill in the stuff, then type \ then press TAB again and it will give you the first folder name inside that, press tab again the second etc etc. so im my example I could type c:\mTAB\rTAB\sTAB\tTAB\TAB\eTAB and it will give me the same command with all formatting correct.. The windows command line tools are crap compared to linux... anyway I've made it easier... see above.. Edited August 16, 2010 by fards

Guest courtlandre Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 (edited) hey still having problem cant get in to koushs recovery for zip what command do you use to update.pkg please What are you trying to do exactly? I thought you got the original recovery working? If you have.... then the easiest way to get 2.1 is to just download the update via the android browser and let it update itself. Are you asking how to flash the original recovery or the 2.1 update? To get the original recovery... do this: How to install - Windows, Linux and OSX * Download the recovery image of your choice above and extract the zip file (Fards or mine should worl great) * Put your device in bootloader mode - Unplug the device from your PC, remove the device battery, then replace it and turn device on with the camera button pressed. Select the 'fastboot' text on the top right, wait around 10 seconds then plug the device into your PC. The screen display should change to 'FASTBOOT MODE'. If it doesn't, repeat and retry (it's a bit temperamental!) * WINDOWS - double click 'install-recovery-windows.bat' Edited August 16, 2010 by courtlandre
