Guest Paul Brown Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 Hi guys, I really need some help getting from 2.1 back to 1.6. I dont need to reflash the recovery i dont think, I've never used Clockwork, just standard recovery. Problem is tho, everytime i try to flash 1.6 i get the message "Latest firmware installed. Rebooting in 30 seconds" or something to that effect. When using the rooted 4399 firmate, i download it, rename the .zip file Update.pkg, drop it on my sd card, then boot into recovery. When trying to flash that file, i get the message: "E:\ No Verification" or something like that, again it restarts after 30 seconds. I've tried following the instructions on how to get back to factory condition, reflashed the recovery from fastboot, boot into recovery, select update from sd card, the screen stays lit, but just goes black. Nothing more. It'll stay like that for ages, or untill i take the battery out. I'm still on 2.1, but it's just too buggy for me. I do like it, and know the final release it about a month away, but still, it's just too buggy for my everyday use. If anyone can help here, it'll be much appriciated! Thanks

Thanks From what I understand to use the rooted 4339 (in fact any .zip rather than .pkg) you MUST Use clockwork recovery the best way ( I think) of getting back is to install clockwork recovery... install the rooted 4339 using that if you don't want the rooted version of 4339 then install stock recovery , then you can flash the update.pkg 4339
Guest craigdabbs Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 i tried this yesterday and it totally fubared my streak, stuck at dell logo and black screen on recovery. you might have better luck tho :D
Guest lgtp Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 I am having the same problem as Paul. Using stock recovery: "Software is up to date. System will reboot in 30 seconds." Using clockwork recovery (various versions): Either an error message or a frozen black screen. Is there any to force the system to apply the update.pkg even if it thinks it's already up to date?
