Replacing the LCD

Hi,

I've just got my new LCD of ebay as my original one has cracked. I thought it'd be a pretty easy job changing the LCD; I've done it on an N82 and N95, just this phone seems like a bitch to open. Does anyone have a guide on how to disassemble the liquid? I can't seen to find any. If there isn't any, would it be possible for someone to create a guide?

Thanks!

Got similar problem. :D

I just thrown my phone from about 15cm on the desk next to my computer and left top corner is dead, liquid is floating... I immediately tried to dismantle the phone at least check how serious the problem is but I couldn't reach too far. Any help would be appreciated from my side as well.

There is no service center here either. :D

On another thread someone said

There are more hex screws under the bottom plastic plate, just put your nail in and take it off

My brother just replaced mine and everything is working, at first he was scared cos the LCD wasn't working, but I think he reconnected the ribbon and it was all fine. The only problem is that the enclosure is looose, so it needs to be glued. He said it was tough work, really tough. I'll get some pictures if he has any and get him to write up a guide.

I also got a Galaxy S during this s***, so sick of the bad build quality of the acer. I'll never buy an Acer product again. The Galaxy S is like a completely different class of phone.

Hey, I am wondering if you ever got the instructions from him.

I dropped my phone today and now my screen is done (phone works but screen is bad and getting worse) :P

Okay he told me he got the instructions from elsewhere on the net. Here they are.

Firstly start by removing the battery cover and battery

Remove the 2 screws at the top back of the phone

the black plastic strip at the bottom of the phonehas clips holding it in place, I used a guiter pick to gently seperate the black plastic peice from the phone, once removed you will see 2x screws, remove these

Once all the screws were removed i used to guiter pick to gently seperate the front and back faces of the phone, you will notice the join, be careful as you dont want to break any clips

The digitizer was cracked on the phone. The digitizer is glued to the front face/ frame, i gently removed all the glass. You may need a hea gun to loosen the glue, a hair drier may be sufficient

A circuit board on the back of the phone down the bottom needed a screw removed to allow easy access to the ribbon cables

Okay a week into the replacement and the screen somehow badword up again, might have been poor screen quality or there was a loose bit when reconnected that caused pressure and breakage.
