Guest TABOY Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 I'm just wondering what's the difference between the Beta version Dell Streak from AT&T and original one that has been released in the stores. As I have seen people on Ebay in the US took the Beta Version from AT&T and open for bidding, which they described it as "Unlocked". Even though they're unlocked, would it be possible to connect with T-mobile or GSM etc.? because they put them in the description saying that they support all those telecommunication companies. I'm not sure if they really do support them. This is what they usually state in their description for Dell Streak Bands : UMTS 2100 / 1900 / 850 MHz GSM / EDGE 1900 / 1800 / 900 / 850 MHz HSDPA / HSUPA:HSDPA 7.2 Mbps / HSUPA 5.76 Mbps So please share your opinions on this. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Guest Spike8585 Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 (edited) I saw a video where Dell said officially that T-Mo would not be supported on the Streak. If I have read correctly, the US version will work with T-Mobile for calls and 2G data, but not 3G, as you require the 1700MHz band for 3G download data. Edited August 17, 2010 by Spike8585

I've used mine on both AT&T and T-Mobile and it is only 2G on T-mobile. However, it sounds like, and correct me if I'm wrong, no-contract Dell Streaks bought new (not Beta) are still locked to AT&T only.(?) So, guess that's one good thing for the Beta is that while 2G you can still use it on T-Mobile.

You are correct. The beta units will work on any GSM provider.....EXCEPT AT&T........they have an agreement with Dell to permanently block them on AT&T's network. :D
