Guest stuliv12 Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 This is only posted for interest, but i was wondering why there is an AMOLED.apk under system/app ? within the package there is AndroidManifest.xml stating package=com.oem.engineeringmode.amoled there is also an fmradio.EM.apk ? are these just standard apk install packages for Android 2.1? i understand that just an apk wont give us the services i mentioned, but if there hardware isnt there why are they part of the build?
Guest Amdathlonuk Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 I also have an FMRADIO.apk on my stock 1.6 .............Hmmmmmmm
Guest Stephen Hyde Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 im not sure what BT chip is in the streak but its possible that it does have an fm radio as the bt chip in my nokia n900 has one as part of the bluetooth chipset (bcm2048 i think it is)
Guest Meltus Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 (edited) The Streak doesn't have an AMOLED screen, so why they'd include an AMOLED.apk is beyond me. Also, the Streak may have FM Radio capabilities which may be included in a later update... or they may be screwing with us. One or the other :D Edit: Also, the 2.1 update is only a Beta and after looking through some of the files, has clearly just been ported over quickly from another phone because there's a lot of crap in there that isn't needed. Guest Paul Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 I can't remember now, but back when I first got my streak IIRC I got it to tune stations but not make any sound... :D P

Perhaps there is a development unit that is a bit more. . .featured than retail units.
Guest stuliv12 Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 from another post just put on here: Qualcomm MXU6219 is the chipset used for the RF inside the Dell Streak Source is ifixit.com. The Qualcomm MXU6219 is the same chipset used in the Xperia X1 which from what I can gather from the Sony Ericsson website supports FM Radio. If the chips are identical it could open the door to FM Radio on the Dell Streak. Thanks, Shauneh
