Guest deekarma Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 I'm not so happy with the new browser. Think i preferred 1.6 version. Main gripe is the address bar no longer being fixed, seconded by slower loading times. For example, i never saw white bars whilst modaco ads loaded. Anyone else?
Guest tudorw Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 preferred having forward and back arrows, not exactly short on horizontal real estate so not sure why they dropped those, unless I am missing an option, I guess this is not a final release product...
Guest burstatron Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 (edited) I miss back and refresh buttons. I know I can do that on the menu button but seems like unnecessary key presses. Also when saving images it always downloads the crap low res version, even after a refresh to display the native res. Unrelated but starting to get really mad a the absence of arrow keys on the keyboard as i correct the autocorrected text. Touch detection on the word I want to edit is very hit and miss. Mostly miss. EDITS: Additional. Text selection. I want to be able to text select in text boxes etc and adress bar etc automatically instead of pressing the delete key multi times. Autohighlght or something. A lot faster loading times tho I've tried a lot of different browsers - Skyfire/Dolphin/Dolphin HD/Opera Mini and played with Fennec too.. I find the best one is xScope. It's very fast and works well on 2.1 - lots of scrolling/zooming options. If you like/use Chrome as your desktop browser, you'll love it... EDIT: oh and you can choose themes for it too - not sure if you can do this with the other browsers? Edited August 18, 2010 by T_r_i_s

Guest Chris J Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 Wow, really liking xScope so far! I want to like it but the the buttons at the top (next to the address bar) aren't responding to touch. Am I missing something?
Guest courtlandre Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 I want to like it but the the buttons at the top (next to the address bar) aren't responding to touch. Am I missing something? Maybe you need to calibrate your screen? Mine are working great (on 2.1).

Guest T_r_i_s Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 (edited) What? Software usually comes in different levels or versions, when it gets upgraded/bugs fixed etc the version increases. As per the link which I posted, I am using version 5.36 which works for me. Edited August 18, 2010 by T_r_i_s

As per the link which I posted, I am using version 5.36 which works for me. What version are you using? Or is this too technical for you? Not too technical at all! The version I had was the one downloaded from the market place, 5.36. As I posted above, after a quick screen calibration it now works like the proverbial charm. I just had a quick look at the link you posted and didn't recognise it as a apk. Thanks for the help anyway.
Guest m4tt24 Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 Main gripe is the address bar no longer being fixed, I prefer the unfixed address bar it took up to much of the screen when scrolling down a page, it would be better if the small yellow loading bar was fixed instead though, sometimes you have to scroll back up to see if whatever you've clicked is actually loading.
Guest Ellis Grouse Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 What version are you using? I'm using this one.. works fine on my Streak :D Isn't this warez? Last I checked, xScope wasn't free :D
Guest Fawaad Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 I don't have many issues with the new browser apart from the status bar not shown when you click on a hyperlink. I actually prefer the address bar disappearing as it gives me more space to browse. It'll make perfect sense to have a shortcut to reach the top of the page. One thing I do miss from 1.6 build. It was the fast switcher between different tabs by clicking on the top bar (where the network info is shown). It used to show me all the browser tabs when clicked from within browser.
