Guest nick w Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 Hi troops. Im having an issue of flashing my Orange desire to a newer radio. I cant do it. For what ever reason it wont flash. I followed this guide Flashing Radio Download the latest version of the radio (5.09.00.20). Place the radio update.zip file on the root of your SD card. Boot into the ClockworkMod Recovery. Boot into the bootloader mode. Select Recovery; volume keys will allow you to navigate up & down & the power key will allow you to select an option. Once you enter ClockworkMod Recovery, use the side volume buttons to move around, and the trackball button to select. Select Install zip from sdcard. Select Choose zip from sdcard. Select the radio update.zip. Once the installation has finished, select Reboot system now. Now the HTC Desire's Baseband version should now be 5.09.00.08. Then i followed this guide How to flash the radios: Make sure you have the usb driver installed from the android sdk Turn your desire off Hold the back button and turn your desire on When you are at the white screen, make sure BOOTLOADER is selected and press the power button Wait a few seconds then press volume down to select RECOVERY and press the power button again When you are at the screen with the red triangle and the phone, plug in the usb cable Run the recovery-windows.bat script from modaco r5 root pack When the recovery menu appears select 'Flash zip from sdcard' Select the radio zip file and press the trackerball to confirm Press the trackerball over 'Reboot system now' When the radio image has finished being written unplug the usb cable The phone will reboot a couple of times and then return to a normal state with your new radio With this guide above it hung. I phoo'd my self and left it for 20 mins, it said something abou clockwork recovery Nothing......
Guest nick w Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 Doesnt say anywhere but i found the issue. I was using my standard4gb card. As soon as i chucked the radio (update.zip) onto the 1GB gold card it worked. So it has to be on the gold card! SOLVED
Guest EddyOS Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 I'm using my 16GB SD card for everything and it's fine...
Guest nick w Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 maybe i needed to reformat my 4gb one? hasnt been done
Guest EddyOS Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 I take it you're also flashing a new ROM? Radio on it's own is useless and will screw up your Desire if not on FroYo
Guest nick w Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 I take it you're also flashing a new ROM? Radio on it's own is useless and will screw up your Desire if not on FroYo Thanks Eddy, But i had flashed with Froyo on the desire but had 4.06.05 baseband. Causing a few issues and rebooting when using the video recorder. So i have just chucked on the new Radio 5.20 which solved the issues. Strange i couldnt do it off my 4gb card. i only realised after 3 hours that i have the 1gb gold card laying about so i tried that and it worked.. strange
