Guest -Wii- Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 Ok so I ring customer services, tell them I've had this conversation with them 20 times and to put me through to the Technical department. She agrees to do so, surprising I know! Anyway I speak to this bloke, Scottish guy thinking finally someone who knows what they are on about. After explaining that 2.1 has gone he says no look it says 2.1 on the website. After explaining to him that that was for the pulse mini and was the source code anyway, I quickly realised he was also completely incapable of answering my questions. He goes to speak to his "colleagues" Who inform me that they have 2.1 off to look at technical problems and they will be putting it back on as soon as they can but they don't know when exactly that will be. Why am I speaking to the middle man you wonder? I asked him to take his phone give it to them and I want to talk to them. "I'm sorry but they are not phone staff" I said that is fair enough but I just want to talk to them on behalf of the many people who's phones are not working. After explaining that they are engineers and they are not allowed I gave up in the end. I then precoded to tell him. I refuse to send my phone off again to be tested it's not the phone send me a new SD card, he agrees I was surprised. They he does something very odd.... "You know what? Is it easier if I just put £10 on your account and you buy one yourself of Amazon"... Erm.... yea go on then.... :D have you ever heard of T-mobile doing that before? You can put £500 on my account if you like and I will go buy a desire? Also interesting... Phone came back from repair They for no reason what so over have decided to replace the camera and the earpiece... Might test it on 2.1 when I get my new SD... Might be a different phone.
Guest Azurren Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 lol wut? :S Never heard of anything like that before! :D
Guest Speckles Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 Yup, the reasoning is that it costs less. They probably don't have any SD cards, so they'd have to order one, wait for it to arrive, and then post it to you. The labour and paper work involved in doing that far outweighs the cost of just putting £10 on your account. After all, its not like you can go spend that £10 down the pub and forget about the SD card :D The company I work for does something similar. If someone rings up and complains a small price (to us) item is faulty, we just ship them another and tell them to keep the faulty one. It would cost us more to process the return. More expensive products we accept back, but they typically just get thrown into a big box. If the box gets full, someone starts looking at them. If it doesn't, we classify it as a low rate of return and they eventually get either given to staff or thrown away (unless someone gets bored and decides to test them...)

I'm sure I could come and spend a little quality time with that box! :D
Guest DanWilson Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 Where do you work Speckles? I'm sure I could come and spend a little quality time with that box! :D Yah bro... "Quality" time *Wink Wink Nudge Nudge* I smell (get ready) LURVE PARTAY!!! ( :D I told you to get ready...) What kind of things does your company get? Like what things get flung into the box?
Guest Speckles Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 Mainly car type stuff like Sat navs, radios, bluetooth kits, etc. Samples of new products also get tossed in there after they have been tested (as they can't be sold). It's not really a free-for-all unless they get put in the "Will be thrown away" box, but a number of staff got Tomtom-like Satnavs for $10 each last month.
