Guest IanT Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 Dell Streak will directly get Android 2.2 Froyo update Posted by Affan on August 17, 2010 // Good news for all those Yankees out there who own a Dell Streak, there is some speculation that Dell Streak might skip the Android 2.1 Éclair update, and directly jump to Android 2.2 Froyo update. The first information Dell has officially provided was about Dell Streak to get Android 2.1 update, but now according to the twitter status of Lionel Menchaca, Dell’s chief blogger, it seems that it will skip directly to Froyo.

Guest MrPokeylope Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 Jutley... you're going by unconfirmed rumours, that sony ericsson are working on a psp phone, for release in september. Sorry to troll, but get your facts right before mouthing off a whole load of codswallop. The phone may be ANNOUNCED in september, if it is indeed real, but don't count on it. It was rumoured to have hardware identical to the streak going by the report (1ghz snapdragon). Also, 3.0 isn't anywhere near finalised yet. And the first phones to have it will be those who use the base android stuff. Like the newly teased G2. Sony don't just announce a new psp and then have it appear in shops in a month unless it's simply a new model/upgrade. (2000/3000 model eg) A PSP phone running android 3.0 is a year away. It will come long after the 3ds has launched too, will have a ton of pointless restrictions put on it, and will be just as much of a disappointment as the psp go. However... I'll probably buy one should it be unlocked for homebrew. that's IF one is coming. A sony ericsson psp phone has been rumoured since the PSP came out.

Well my my we're very enthused aren't we? As you may know as of the moment us Brits can very easily pick up 2.1, whilst no other baseband is supported, so thats not bad really. No one said we wouldn't recieve 2.2 at the same or within a similar timeframe so theres no complaints to be given there. As for this Sony Ericsson PSP phone its only just been a leak on the authority of one tipster. If it exists its still early in development because the core OS isnt even finished. And only a few phones are even 2.2 so were not exactly lagging behind with our leaked 2.1's. Just a small message from the bright side of things.
Guest vinokirk Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 Jutley... you're going by unconfirmed rumours, that sony ericsson are working on a psp phone, for release in september. +1 for this too :D
Guest MrPokeylope Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 A sony phone will come. Hopefully they won't make a pigs ear of it, as they have with their last two psp revisions, but it does sound good to me. I'm sick of hearing all this rubbish about apple taking over portable gaming because they sell so many games. At 99p a pop, I'm sure DS or psp games would sell like an icecream van outside a weight watchers too. Traditional handheld games that require controls do not work on a touchscreen. I simply lost interest in my iphone 3g. A decent attempt at a psp phone, with a big enough screen, decent button layout and no android functionality cut, and i'll be a judas to my streak. Like gary coleman's possessions, that s***'s gettin ebayed. I'd think I'm a knowledgable gamer. So I'm not trying to poopoo the idea of a psp phone coming so soon. I visit kotaku, destructoid and siliconera several times a day. If nothing's there... then it's not worth your excitement.
Guest bbmalver Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 (edited) I think most of the above just got away from the simple ole fact that i want an offical 2.1 release for my '00' baseband right now! (which I know is just about available), and forget about the 'rumored' 2.2 which may well be a couple of months away! (given the way dell work :D ) Edited August 18, 2010 by bbmalver
Guest vinokirk Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 (edited) Well my wifes sisters boyfriends mothers cousins father-in-laws brothers neice just told me the Streak will be getting Gingerbread last week Edited August 18, 2010 by vinokirk
Guest MrPokeylope Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 You're not missing much :D 2.1 is okay. But... meh. Just fire adw on your 1.6 phone and you'll still be rockin' awesomeness. 2.1 was a bit pointless. 2.2 is what everything should be on. I love how the phones actually become more and more responsive, speedy and functional as updates are released. Wasn't used to that with my iphone! "Congratulations! Heres your annual iphone update. We're giving you something ELSE your last phones have all had for years, but it'll slow your phone down a bit." My iphone blew me away when I got it... I simply have to just be nice and play along when someone gets a new one now. Oh yeah... it's a great phone (screens too small.) Awesome for music (but why can't you stream from itunes?) and everyone's got one, so more developers (don't too many cooks spoil the broth?) The only android-related complaint I have sofar is the pathetic app store. Even then it's mostly the payment scheme. Basically, if I can purchase an app in my own currency, I shall. If I can't, then I'm gonna google the APK and install it for free.

Ever thought of using punctuation or grammar or spelling so that people can understand what you mean? Otherwise you are just wasting your time and everyone else's who bothers to try and understand what the hell you are trying to say.

Guest MrPokeylope Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 If you can't read go back to school asshole. Jutley, he's quite right. You really need to punctuate. If you want people to take you seriously, you have to at least try. Reading unpunctuated posts gives people a headache. They're not easy to make sense of.

Guest kibcom Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 (edited) Well badword Y O U did you understand that? No, because once again you have not used any punctuation. Therefore what you have written is unintelligible. I'm finished with this now. You can only tell a man he has a wooden leg once. Edited August 20, 2010 by kibcom
Guest T_r_i_s Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 You can only tell a man he has a wooden leg once. I'm not aware of this restriction - is this an English regulation? :D
Guest HOkay Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 Lol at jutley, as if gingerbread is anywhere near ready! The last rumoured ETA I saw was mid October and even then that will be N1 only I'm sure. Dell aren't the fastest when it comes to releasing OS updates but I personally think they did a great job with their 1.6 version of the OS (in comparison to the vanilla 1.6) and I'm crossing my fingers they keep it up with the official 2.1 in the next couple of weeks with 2.2 in a month or two. Of course for now we can all wait with bated (turns out that is the correct spelling, as opposed to baited) breath for Pauls 2.1 custom ROM which I'm sure will give us practically everything we could ask for right now! (Ah flash, one day you will bring me all the fun of the Internet to a device in my pocket...) Also, one giant post with no sources, plenty of attempted profanity and not even the slightest hint of punctuation is, in my opinion, trolling.
