Using Autostarts to save memory, battery and bootup time

It is not Pulse-specific, but seems to be very useful: there is a program in Market called Autostarts, it sets what to start automatically when phone boots, and for different events.

Apparently it seems that by default Android autostarts soooooooooo many things.

Autostarted things use memory, battery etc.

So there are two things:

1, it is a good idea to buy it

2, and this is the more important, it would be nice to know what it does and try to set it in the ROM to do it more clever.

Anybody knows, how it works?

Edit: it seems that there is an other similar tool, Startup Auditor that does the same.
