Guest BejhanJ Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 I bought the Acer Liquid E last week and am very happy with it. Except for the fact that it randomly restart, sometimes very frequently other times not at all. Has anyone else been having this problem? Do you think it is hardware or software? Is there a fix?
Guest botolo Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 Do you still use the original ROM? If so it's weird. Acer roms aren't perfect but usually do not reboot or crash like yours :D Did you install any app recently? Did you notice if the liquid got very hot before rebooting?
Guest BejhanJ Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 Yes I am using the original ROM. The only thing I have done is used malezRecovery to root the phone and install busybox. As for any installs of apps recently, I noticed this problem after having the phone for only a few days so I don't think it is any apps fault but, here are the apps I have installed just in case: Astrid Taks, ASTRO, cab4me, Digg, FMyLife Official, Maps, Market, MSN Talk, My Account, Nesoid, org.devtcg.tools.logcat, Parkdroid, Shazam, Smart Compass, SMS Time Fix, Startup Manager, The Weather Channel I didn't notice excess heat during the reboots. Just now, 10 minutes into a call, my phone just shut down by itself and it was constantly vibrating and all the notification LEDs on the top were flashing. I had to take the battery out. Would the log files give you more information? I tried looking through them but I wasn't really sure what I was looking at.

I have the same problem with my liquid, i have to choose use 3g only in settings-> wireless -> mobile networks. If your ROM doesn't have this option go into dialer and enter the following code: *#*#4636#*#* then phone information, then scroll down to set preferred network type and choose WCDMA only and try and tell us the results.

Guest umair9001 Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 Try flashing a stable rom or LCR or Xian's Rom first..it might be because of the ROM. Try to get a screen shot of your Settings --> About Phone.
Guest BejhanJ Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 hbahaie: My phone does not have the option to use 3g only, it has the option to use 2g only (currently not selected). Also WCDMA is already set as preferred. gengaro86: I have e-mailed the Acer's technical support. I was advised to register my device and call their support line. I will probably call this weekend. umair9001: It shouldn't be because of the ROM should it? I just have the standard Rogers ROM. About Phone Model number: Acer Liquid Firmware version: 2.1-update1 Baseband version: A1-04.01.01 Kernel version: 2.6.29 Build number: Acer_LiquidE_1.100.03_PA_ROG
Guest BejhanJ Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 I was just in market trying to download some live wallpapers and my phone crashed. Went back in to market tried to download again, crashed again. Tried a few more times, crashed again. Not sure if this information is helpful but I thought I'd mention it. Also the phone felt a little warm at this time.
Guest BejhanJ Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 Another update, got into market started downloading 3 items. Left market. Everything okay. Phone crashes during download. When I first noticed this problem it was happening while I was browsing. So due to the problem with downloading and market I think the crashing has to do with the data connection.

I think u have a faulty hardware, it is manadatory to contact Acer for replacing this unit.
Guest won Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 Hey, The first Liquid E I received from Rogers crashed during the very first boot up. I just thought it was some sort of initializing process, but the problem worsened to a point where I couldn't use apps utilizing the GPS, on top of many random crashes. Luckily I was able to get a new unit from Rogers with their 30 day replacement policy, I just figured it would be easier and faster than dealing with Acer directly. Needless to say I was pissed off at the whole situation, but when the phone crashed during my conversation with the Rogers rep to request a replacement, I just started laughing. I have no issues whatsoever with the replacement phone so far (knock on wood). Good luck!
Guest BejhanJ Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 I called, waited on hold for 30 minutes. I told the agent I believed it to be a hardware defect but he told me to do a factory reset and wait to see if the problems persists as it may be a software issue. I do not think this is a software issue, what do you guys think?
Guest nadoolau Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Try removing your sd card and see whether it reboots again.
Guest BejhanJ Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Did the factory reset, took out SD card. After about an hour it crashed again. So definitely defective hardware. I am going to get a replacement today.
