Guest LazerRanger Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 Hiya guys love the forum and reading threads from you guys and you're wonderful work on the LCR pushed me into making the purchase of my Liquid and I'm loving the phone. In fact it's pretty much exactly what I wanted; reasonably priced (£210) but powerful enough to perform the functions I wanted. However after a night of excitably playing with the phone (I flashed to the Official 2.1 rom from the Acer UK site) I received my first phone call, it was going well until I unplugged the hands free kit and learnt that no sound will come through the ear speaker (loud speaker is working perfectly). I've contacted the website I brought it from about sending for a replacement but before it's picked up I thought I'd pick the brains of you guys. I'm assuming its a hardware fault (as I said hands free kit works fine) but is there any way I can test for sure? By the way I attempted to factory restore (to the 2.1 rom, I haven't been able to find a stock yet). Is it worth me trying to revert to the stock rom? Thank you in advance for reading/attempting to advise.
Guest Delnar_Ersike Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 I've had the exact same problem with my Liquid, but I assumed it was some bug within the custom ROM. Now that you mention it, it's weird that it hasn't been working for me even after I switched ROMs 4 times...
Guest dennerjw Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 (edited) You get what you pay for :D Acer is known for making affordable products with high specs, however with cheap hardware. Its pretty much luck of the draw when you buy anything Acer. Edited August 20, 2010 by dennerjw

Seriously, the liquid is the strongest phone I've ever had... It felt on ground two times more than my HTC Touch Pro2, my TP2 has some marks on it, my Liquid still looks totally brand new.
Guest KingsizeX Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 It is a very common defect unfortunately, many people have reported it with new Liquids... It's not any ROM'S problem! It's hardware defect. Bad Hear Speaker. I got my Acer Liquid without warranty and had to fix it myself... i wrote on XDA my experience to help others. Here is what i did to Fix Liquid Hear Speaker If you're on warranty grace period just send it back, ask for refund or replacement, if not, try my trick.
