Guest OO7 Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 I finally removed the plastic cover from the screen of my Pulse mini and noticed that it has what looks to be a small permanent compression on the screen. Instead of trying to describe it I've posted a picture up at http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/93/pulsescreen.jpg It's that oil on water effect you get when you press down on the screen except on that small area it doesn't go away. The thing is it's only noticeable from an angle and when the screen is off. Does this look normal or is the screen damaged? I ask because the screen isn't very responsive but this may be typical of the mini's resistive screen? Also I haven't yet updated to a custom rom - would this help? And if I do can I revert back to factory settings in case I need to return it for repair?

What you are seeing is 'Newtons rings' - from what I have read in the past, manufacturer's often shy away from repairing this as they assert that it is the result of the screen being pressed or receiving an impact over and above normal usage. I would definitely try though, they can only say no. No software will alleviate it, since it is a physical fault that has developed. It may explain the lack of responsiveness (although the mini as you know doesn't have the best screen on that front!).
Guest Danh2122 Posted August 20, 2010 Report Posted August 20, 2010 As bad as yours may seem mine's worse as it has a small area of deep scratches on the screen, and dust on the LCD scrren itself not on the touch layer which we use but about half a cm below that where the LCD layer is. The dust seems to be stuck there with no way to get it out. :D
Guest OO7 Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 dt_matthews: thanks, now I know what to call it. When I checked it again today I've noticed it had disappeared, but now it's back again very unusual! Actually it almost looks as though there's another screen protector on top but I don't want to try pulling away at it in case it's the actual screen! Danh2122: That does sound worse, hope it doesn't effect it too much.
