Guest Daniel Williamson Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Im just wondering if this can be possible with the pulse, looks very confusing to me but im sure someone knows what it all means  Also im not to sure if it needs the kernel or other releases.. if so im sorry for an irrelevant post ;) Link to instructions Dan
Guest Holograph Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Nope, we don't have the kernel sources..
Guest Daniel Williamson Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Nope, we don't have the kernel sources.. ;) Ahh yeah i was wondering if we had got those yet :/ anyway can be useful for the future if they are ever released  Dan
Guest Daz555 Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 (edited) Modified kernel, small overclock, support for swap, and the Pulse would fly. Edited August 26, 2010 by Daz555
Guest Simon O Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 Modified kernel, small overclock, support for swap, and the Pulse would fly. That's all I want for now. The G1 runs Eclair and Froyo very well with an overclockable kernel, compcache and swap. And it has the same amount of memory as we do.
Guest BigBearMDC Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 Already tried that with the old kernel - failed. Normal patches that work on HTC devices aren't applicable to our Pulse. I doubt patching the acpuclock, or to say it better, merge in the overclock patch is possible until you really understand what Huaweis code does. Its just completely different to HTCs code. But, hell, Huawei had a LOT of work with patching the kernel source ... they did not leave a single bit unchanged ... respect  Once the new kernel gets released I'll be on it again. Same for multitouch. Besg regards, BB
Guest Azurren Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 But as long as we get swap that's the main thing  I can put up (And have been) with the slow speed without any issues.

Guest Holograph Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 Should we remind Huawei that Linux kernel is under GPL so it SHOULD be released? Shall we send them a summon?
Guest sparky71a Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 Should we remind Huawei that Linux kernel is under GPL so it SHOULD be released? I think your right, Email them and let us know your reply, they are pretty good at replying and seem a fairly good little business to communicate with. It may just be something that hasn't occurred to them, or maybe they've just been trying to build an identifiable image through the operation of their handsets. They've settled in now and maybe it's time for them to realise their baby has grown up and needs to move out into the big bad world!!! As i said....let us know how you get on
Guest MuhaJR Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 Question sent, waiting for reply....

As i said....let us know how you get on It's something they are well aware of and have released in the past, however at the moment they deny it's their responsibility and say they have sent the source to t-mobile for release. They seem to forget that they have customers other than t-mobile who they release the roms directly for so they need to supply it themselves. Reading between the lines and picking up on the response from one of the Huawei staff it appears that they have changes their forum software to one where they are more limited on the attachments they can add so they are trying to make excuses. They are not good at communication and their Open Software compliance manager email address yields no response.
Guest wats0n Posted August 27, 2010 Report Posted August 27, 2010 By the 1.5 system, the 528MHz is the best choice from performance test. I've tested with 600 and 800 MHz, but it's float point grade is low (small than 384MHz) and system is unstable. I think it's chips on board is cost down too much.

The modified source code had been deleted because it is useless for increasing performance. Best regards, Watson
