So I got my Streak at 8PM and now its 1:45AM and i can't get fastboot to work!

I've installed the sdk, added fastboot and adb to .bash_profile

adb --help
brings up the help text so i know its working
adb devices
lists the device
fastboot --help
shows the help text yet when i try to flash a recovery image
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
i just get
<waiting for device>

i tried with the streak in recovery mode and running in the OS, still same thing.

what am i doing wrong?

All my searches come up with resolutions for XP and its solved by updating the driver, yet i'm on a mac and theres no need for drivers.

./fastboot-mac -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.img

./fastboot-mac -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.img

i've tried that before and still the same thing... thats -i (number zero)x413c correct?

scratch that, tried it with O instead of 0 and i get

error: invalid vendor id 'Ox413c'

also i've renamed my fastboot-mac to fastboot to make life easier... is that what is causing the issue?

also since i just learned how to use terminal recently whats the difference between ./command and command?

./ means the script (in this case fastboot) exists in the current directory.

And yeah, if you renamed it, ./fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.img

And it needs to be in fastboot mode, not device on.

Get it working?

well its sitting here and says "FASTBOOT_MODE" in the bottom right... haven't tried to flash the recovery image yet because i want to back up the stock one before i do so. I know the UK stock recovery image is available but don't know if its the same as the US one... do you know if it is?

also do you know how to backup the recovery.img?

The recovery.img is available, you're fine without a backup of it.

but i did backup the stock recovery image using the following

adb shell

#su

#cat /dev/mtd/mtd1 > /sdcard/mtd/recovery.dump

thanks to adamg over at xda, now just to get it to him so he can repack it to .img for all to use!
