Guest evertb Posted August 27, 2010 Report Posted August 27, 2010 I decided to flash my HTC Hero with a new ROM today as it was still stuck on Android 1.5 and the promised OTA upgrade from my phone provider wasn't happening. Big mistake! I downloaded all the required bits of software as outlined on the unlockr http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/27/how-to-ro...-in-one-click/) flashed to 1.40 then to 1.4.1 on to 1.4.2 and 1.4.3 after I flashed with 1.4.3 and rebooted the phone hung int he black screen with the word "Hero". I've tried pulling out the battery eventually, wiping and flashing again but with the same result. can boot the phone into the bootloader by holding down the power & home button and in the other mode (screen with Android on skateboard) by holding down power & volume down button. Lost for ideas what to do and could really do with some help..

Are you using adb? - if your not; you should be  If so; what happens when you run adb logcat on boot; this is really helpfull and shows you whats happening as the phone seems to be "hanging" on boot. If you've just flashed it then 9/10 its just gonna hang for as long as 20 - 30 minutes; it did on my old hero. Edited August 28, 2010 by mac-attack

Guest liorwei Posted August 28, 2010 Report Posted August 28, 2010 you need to download SDK http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html. and than from cmd : cd c:\<the folder of the SDK>\tools and than you can run adb commans. pay attention that the tools folder will be find in 2 or 3 folders after extracted
