Guest philbean Posted August 28, 2010 Report Posted August 28, 2010 Is the SMS bug exactly the same for the Hu and UK flavours of 2.1 ? The reason I ask is that I assume most people here are now on the UK version and i see a lot of discussion about missing texts and the user not being aware that the text was ever sent. I am running the Hungarian 2.1 at the moment and I think I had my first encounter with the bug yesterday. I unlocked the phone to get the low memory warning AND a second warning message saying that a text message had not been received as the Text memory was full (there was only 5 or 6 messages in there) My questions... 1. Is this because I'm on Hu and not UK? The reason I ask is that I'm going to install FLB mod and I was gonna upgrade to the UK first.. but if the HU handles the SMS bug problem better, I'd stick with that. 2. I'm assuming the FLB mod will help with the bug as I'd install APP2SD, freeing up system memory for texts. Correct? 3. I'm still using the Android stock SMS system. Is this why I got a warning about a lost text and maybe people using add-on SMS apps don't?? Pip x
Guest Azurren Posted August 28, 2010 Report Posted August 28, 2010 HU < UK < FLB It's reduced but not fixed. But what you got wasn't the text message bug. You just filled the memory up
Guest TGWS Posted August 29, 2010 Report Posted August 29, 2010 So, Let me get this straight. The HU 2.1 Update, Doesent or handles the bug better then the UK 2.1 Version? If so, Im updating to the 2.1 HU. I was on the UK one but, Downgraded due to the SMS issue.
Guest Sl4yer Posted August 29, 2010 Report Posted August 29, 2010 I think what Azurren meant is that there are two separate issues. One is when the storage space is low (even though several MB might actually be free), and you get a message that an SMS was missed. This isn't the common bug, but is probably likely before long on 2.1 without A2SD. The more common issue is when a text is missed with no warning. This is presumed to be because the Pulse is low on RAM (AS OPPOSED TO STORAGE!) at the particular moment the text is received. This might be due to other applications running, so some of the custom ROMs try to maximise free RAM to reduce the problem, and also to speed up operation. I've had the issue occasionally, as far as I know. But it could be a problem if texts are vital to you. It's VERY unlikely that the HU update is superior to the UK update in any way, so I wouldn't go back.
Guest D-D- Posted August 29, 2010 Report Posted August 29, 2010 I know this isn't the topic, but, the pulse has "usable" ram somewhere within 110mb, from which 90mb constantly used and some pulse equal handset has 98mb in again usable ram and has 65mb constant free memory. I don't know how the ram managed in other devices but it's very weird that we have this case. I guess we'll have to wait until october to hopefully get the kernel source and let the forum experts to play with it and make it very quite usable. I do hope that we will have the best phone with android for the money we have. And I want to say tnx to everyone who contribute d for making the pulse fast with the speed I get now.

Texting is the only reason i have a phone i think  haha So yes, i shall not return back to the 2.1 Update untill all is well ;) Thankyou for clearing it up. I do remember reading somwhere that they was likely to relase a stable 2.1 update in october, Is this true? Cheers.
