Guest Morris Lee Posted August 29, 2010 Report Posted August 29, 2010 The nexus one and the acer liquid e seems to have the same multitouch confusion issues, as nexus one is more popular, they actually have information on wikipedia about such issue on the n1, they described it as software enabled multitouch therefore some applications and games might not function as they should. You can find the info here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nexus_One under the "Comparison with other phones" section. Perhaps someone has some sort of "fix" or work around for this issue for the acer liquid possibly?

Nexus One/Desire/Liquid is using single capacitive sensors. The Iphone/Motorola Milestone has a multi capcitive sensor. I dont know the exact difference between those two technologies, but its obvious that the last one is working much better. Google tried to fix this problem in Froyo, and the multtouch quallity has been improved, but i think its impossible to fix this issue compleatly by doing some software changes. e.g. Assassins Creed is working realy good on 2.2. Playing it on 2.1 was impossible.
Guest Morris Lee Posted August 30, 2010 Report Posted August 30, 2010 Assassins Creed is on Android? where can I get it?
Guest Delnar_Ersike Posted August 30, 2010 Report Posted August 30, 2010 (edited) Assassins Creed is on Android? where can I get it? ;) Unfortunately, you'll have to deal with Gameloft and their broken online store service, as they're the ones who made Assassin's Creed for Android. There's two versions: a 2D and a 3D one, and IMO, they both suck (they're just regular, linear platformers with no extra "feature" other than the Assassin's Creed label slapped on for guaranteed sales). Replica Island is a better game than Assassin's Creed for Android, and it's free to boot. As for multitouch, here's what phhusson told me in the Phhroyo91 thread: Basically, the capacitive technology gives not point coordinates, but x values where the points are, and y values. So we don't know which point is where. So, to work around that, you must track the fingers. Theorically there is no problem with that. But when you actually do that, there are big troubles because of the precision of the screen. First, simply the refresh rate, points "jump", and the guess is to say the point is the one the nearest. Now, the real problem can be noticed easily, move two fingers on the same x (or y axis), move them from like 10 pixels on the x(or y) axis. They'll still appear on the same axis. That's because of the anti noise filtering (I think). As said earlier some other phones don't have such problems, but I've been told they are way more noisy. In case you didn't understand, if I interpreted his explanation correctly, it means the device picks up x and y values for up to two points (adding more messes it up), but it doesn't attach the values to each other. In other words, the device will have two x coordinates and two y coordinates, but doesn't know without any software stuff whether x1 belongs to y1 or y2. This means that the touchscreen is prone to point inversion (one finger will control a given point's y coordinate, while the second finger will control the given point's x coordinate, and the opposite will be true for the other point). Download a Multitouch test app from the Market (there's two that I know of) and test them out to see what the problem is. Edited August 30, 2010 by Delnar_Ersike
Guest Morris Lee Posted August 30, 2010 Report Posted August 30, 2010 Wow, perfect explanation! I understood right away, it all makes sense now, I have been wondering how it can get mixed up when they are 2 really different location, but mathematically, there is almost no way telling which is which when they intercept, I recall that I read something about iphone has multi layered touchpanels or something. Too bad about assassin's creed, sigh... I guess it is a phone, not a gameboy HAHA Morris Lee

Guest Morris Lee Posted August 30, 2010 Report Posted August 30, 2010 Not a gameboy? I beg to differ! gameboid  How well does that work out? Anything like ps1 or 2 emulator? I want to play some of the ps only versions of resident of evil series ;)
Guest tc4101 Posted August 30, 2010 Report Posted August 30, 2010 the playability of SNES emulated games on the acer is worthless. you can jump, but cant run and jump at the same time. u have to run. let go of the arrow button and then press jump, but it not the same thing as running and pressing jump at the same time. so virtually useless.

That's only if you put the Dpad and the other keys in the same row: try a Bottom + Top configuration, or a Top + Bottom. One thing that can't be remedied though is that most SNES games were built with the shoulder buttons in mind, therefore in some games, you're meant to press a shoulder button, a Dpad direction, and a key at the same time (example: Super Metroid, where you'll run in a direction, be looking up or down, and shooting at the same time).

The games that need multiple touch at the same time, could possibly use hardware buttons. For instance, supertux (mario clone) works just fine (concerning buttons.) on the Liquid
Guest Small_Hacker Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 I think this problem is really bad for playing game... quote First, simply the refresh rate, points "jump", and the guess is to say the point is the one the nearest unquote Can this problem be fixed by software?????????????????????
Guest phhusson Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 Can this problem be fixed by software????????????????????? Definitely not. Perhaps we could change some apropriate settings from the kernel to have something better, but I don't think so.
