Getting online calendars to work

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm using the htc calendar and it is synched to my google account. I can see my calendar just fine, but in my google account I also have some online accounts (friends mostly) that I would like to be able to see on my desire as well but I can't seem to find how to do it. Any ideas? is it feasable?

Thank you for the help.

I am assuming that these additional calendars are visible to you when you logon to your Google Calendar account on the web? If so, it is probably that you haven't selected these calendars to be visible on your Desire.

On your Desire go to Calendar -> Settings -> Calendars and make sure that all the calendars you would like to be visible are selected.

I think that's the whole problem, when I logon to google they are selected as visible but when I go on my desire I see only my google calendar as an option to be visible, I don't see the others

How exactly have you added your friends' calendars to your Google Calendar? Have you imported their ICS files into your Google Calendar? Or has it been done some other way?

Their calendars are public and published online so I've just added the link to their calendars

Hmmm....

Have you tried force-refreshing your Desire Calendar to see if that brings up the updated Calendar list in Calender -> Settings -> Calendars?

I have multiple Calendars imported into my Google Calendar and all of them show up fine on my Desire with MCR R8. However, there have been times in the past where some Calendars took longer than others to show up. In such cases a manual refresh helped update the list.

I don't know if this makes a difference or not but my menu is a bit different than what you say.

I have Menu-> Calendars and there I can see which calendars to view

and I have Menu->Settings->Calendar view settings, but there I can only change stuff like at which day of the week it starts and how many days to view etc.

Which Calendar are you using? I am using the HTC Calendar.

Once you have opened the Calendar application, the navigation should be Menu Hardware Button -> More -> Calendars. We don't really have to get into "settings"

OK. This may be a stupid question but please bear with me.

Have you actually setup your Desire to use your Google Account?

Yes:)

All my other google applications work (e.g. gmail) and I do see my main calendar, I just don't see the online subscribed ones.

Follow the following steps:

1. Go into your Google Calendar account on the Web

2. Make sure all the Calendars you need are selected to be visible on the Calendar

3. On your Desire, go to Home Screen -> Menu Hardware Button -> Settings (not Calendar settings) -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All tab -> Calendar Storage -> Clear Data

4. Once you have cleared the data, go into the Calendar application and manually perform a refresh.

This should (hopefully) bring up the list of calendars that are visible on Google Calendar.

I had the same sort of problem earlier and I found that ...

Calendar - Menu (button) - More - Calendars - Menu (button) - Add Calendars

... it lets me add the missing ones

But who the hell came up with that menu structure?
