Hi everyone, im not sure if anyone has seen this over at XDA but they are calling it an official froyo release. It looks final but its not really "official".

I did not fid this i am merely spreading the word :huh:

UPDATE Users are suggesting that if your in the UK you don't have to edit the registry you only have to put Kies in test mode ! ;), as this was not known before i cannot confirm but, it would be very helpful if other UK Galaxy s owners could confirm.

Warning: If you have a SIM locked Galaxy S, this ROM will ask you for an unlock code even if you're using the SIM from the same network, so be sure to get that code before updating!

Also Kies will need updated to the latest version.

Just a warning before we start, this involves changing the registry on your computer so im not responsible if you accidently changed stuff you shouldnt, same goes with flashing you galaxy s

So as mentioned above this does require some REG editing..

1. Start > Run > REGEDIT

2. Locate "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Kies\DeviceDB\1" Note yours may not be stored in the 1 folder, its different for many people.

3. When you get to DeviceDB search through the different folders until you see

"SoftwareRevision"

"ProductCode"

"HIDSWVER"

"DEVCONINFO"

4. Next open up kies and connect you GS to the computer, wait for Kies to recognize phone then change the above values to

"SoftwareRevision"="I9000XXJF3/I9000OXAJF3/I9000XXJF3/I9000XXJF3"

"ProductCode"="GT-I9000HKDXEU"

"HIDSWVER"=""

"DEVCONINFO"=""

5. Then click On update firmware icon...

post-621853-1283170129_thumb.png

6. Then once loaded press CTRL+ALT+U+P

And it should say Test mode on...

post-621853-1283170287_thumb.png

7. Then If you have done all of the above correctly it should say that you have a new update I90000XXJPC

8. Finally once it has upgraded after it has rebooted you may get a black screen and it vibrates a few times.. this is normal and when this happens hold Volume up + Home + Power button to boot in recovery mode, then Wipe data/ Factory reset.

9. Then when booted you should have some Lovely froyo on your Samsung galaxy s :(

P.s A root update.zip is currenlty being developed by somone over at XDa

Hi, Great post!

I can confirm in the UK with a unlocked/unbranded JM1 version and I didnt have to regedit.

One problem you maybe able to help with?

Ive followed your instructions and all goes will in kies, reporting update complete.

However when rebooting the phone it still reports as JM1, and when pluging in to kies and firmware update its back to

JM1 lol, tried 4 times now, must be missing somthing? :2

Maybe in normal mode there was already an update available.

Are you putting Kies in Test mode ( CTRL + ALT + U + P) ??

Just a note; If you have a SIM locked Galaxy S, this ROM will ask you for an unlock code even if you're using the SIM from the same network, so be sure to get that code before updating, otherwise you'll be left like me, with a phone which can't be used as a phone, looking for a solution...

Won't "standard" unlock hack work? I mean the one sticked on top of this forum...

Have you edited the registry prior to this? as This is needed if not in the UK

Yes Dan, followed yr instruction step by step.

edited the 4 items.

my mistake is pressing the ctrl/alt/u/p too fast.

It have to indicate test mode off then jpc appear.

if test mode on click ok, jm1 will appear.

thank you Dan
