Streak screen qauilty..disappointed

hi all ..in almost all reviews of streak online, they have mentioned that streak has a "stunning screen"..while it is definately big, sumhow i find the screen washed out..

the home screen wallpapers-specially the stock ones looks faded and pixelated too and so are videos..however when i load high res photographs/wallpapers they appear quite lively.is the resolution 1.6 m? i have upgraded it to 2.1..actually my basic need for purchasing this was to use as video player during my daily commutes...i haven not yet converted my dvd's though...just divx movies downloaded from net..any advise

secondly i simply fail to understand when samsung galaxy has same spec OS wise, how cum they have a seperate divx player and other android base handsets like streak, htc etc rely on 3rd party apps like rockplayer to play divx...

I really can't agree with you at all the Streaks screen is stunning and the best i have seen or used in outdoor sunny conditions to maybe you needed to look at the setting you are using and adjust those I'm waiting to get m Streak back but I think its screen is actually better then the Super AMOLED screen on my Galaxy S. As to why Samsung can play DivX files whilst most other devices can't that's simple Samsung did a deal with DivX and licensed the codecs where as the others haven't.

I was doing a side-by-side comparision with the iPhone 4 while watching the same 720p movie, and I was disappointed at the contrast - the "washed out" does come from alot of backlighting. The blacks were much deeper on the iPhone. Still, it's a pretty good screen, though I do wish the contrast was better. Outside of watching a video, I don't have any complaints. I'm sure it's no AMOLED like the Galaxy S though.

Hi marc can u advise the settings u are using as apart from brightness there are none...btw wil u b keeping your galaxy now. .I too have same..in two minds whether return the streak or sumhow find a way to match its screen with that of galaxy to enjoy videos and sell the latter

The streak isnt washed out, its natural. Too many people have no idea what a natural looking screen actually looks like. AMOLED screens are universally over saturated and the level of black crush is overwhelming. Its not such a problem on a phone screen, but even so. The iP4 screen is good but still over saturated, probably to make it 'compete' with AMOLED screens.

Pixel size? They are the same resolution, but the streak has a bigger screen, besides which AMOLEDs are a bit like plasma screens, they have a slight blurring effect which makes everything look smoother and less harsh and hard edged than LCDs.
