Guest Amdathlonuk Posted August 30, 2010 Report Posted August 30, 2010 Sorry guys, I'm SURE this has been posted before, I've just been through the 11 pages on the Streak on this forum and can't see any title relating to changing the boot screen. Basically after finally taking the plunge to 2.1 I have an O2 2nd boot screen (phfft). As mine is unlocked from Dell I want to remove this blasphemy from my piece if hardware! Can I just change the bootanimation.zip file in system/media? Or is it located elsewhere? I'd like to change it for a standard .png Thanks

Guest Amdathlonuk Posted August 30, 2010 Report Posted August 30, 2010 Thanks for the input guys, managed to change it however I'm struggling to modify one to fit. I have rotated all the .png files attached in the zip file. I then re-zipped (using standard windows file compression). But it won't show? I just get a black screen on the 2nd boot phase. I have modified the .txt file to read 480 800 also to fit the screen. The boot animation works without playing with it, but it shows as portrait on my landscape screen, basically I'm trying to rotate it so it looks correct. Any ideas?bootanimation_boing.zip

I think ... in fact I am pretty sure that you need to edit all of the pngs in part0 and part1 to 800x480 instead of the 480x800 that they are currently in! may sound simple, but I think that would work. *oh .. and you can't use the standard compression in windows, the files should remain uncompressed, this is achieved by using 'storage mode' or something similar in WinZip or other 3rd party file compression progs!* Edited August 30, 2010 by FatherD
Guest Amdathlonuk Posted August 30, 2010 Report Posted August 30, 2010 Aha..... thanks, I'll give it a go I think the major downfall is the windows compression, even if I had sized them wrong it should still work I presume. But the fact it worked before and it doesn't since I unzipped then windows zipped it tells me something. I'll let you know how I get on.
