Guest Tid Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 (edited) I'm currently running T-Mobile UK branded Android 2.1 on my Desire, which I rooted earlier today. Eventually I'll probably put one of Paul's Roms on it; but for now I'd just like to go with HTC's stock froyo build (T-Mobile UK are yet to release a froyo update, say it could be another month). I found RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.8_Radio_32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20_release_140022 _signed.exe on shipped-roms.com and wondered:Is it compatible with my phone?Where can I get a bit more information on how to apply it to my phone? If it helps, heres the software details: EDIT: Scratch point 2, having read the read me in the RUU it seems pretty straight forward Edited August 31, 2010 by Tid

You need a Gold Card which will allow the RUU to flash the phone, the attached utility will take care of the creation process for you. You'll need a blank MicroSD card inserted into the phone to create the Gold Card.GoldCardTool.exe
Guest EddyOS Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 (edited) If you flash that RUU you'll have issues going back should you need to for warranty issues. Just get the r8 MCR ROM as it's based on that ROM but is better... Edited August 31, 2010 by EddyOS

Well considering the ROM for Orange branded Desires has never been released and Froyo is delayed till mid-September to give Orange time to add their crapware, i'll take any way possible to debrand my phone and get rid of the 11 apps that Orange added as well as getting Froyo onto it. Guest EddyOS Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 Well, if you're wanting to debrand then fair enuff but if you just want FroYo then I'd suggest the MCR route...
Guest Tid Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 Ok I took the advice and tried one of the pre-baked r8 MCR ROMs. Booted into clockwork mod recovery and chose to apply the update from the zip file, but I just get the error Verifying update package... E:signature verification failed Installation aborted If it matters, I used the unrevoked root method. Any Ideas?
Guest EddyOS Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 You need to turn off signature verification - the MCR ROMs aren't signed so either rebake and tick the 'sign ROM' box OR turn off signature checking in clockwork mod

Just trying it now, seems to be working  EDIT: Its now frozen in the boot sequence. The ROM installed ok, then I rebooted when prompted. The radio then began to install, then after another reboot its now frozen. Managed to get to recovery and I'm currently restoring Back where I started again now (after a slightly scary delay in booting after the restore), except with a higher numbered Baseband version. Still not sure what went wrong back there but maybe I'll give it another go some time. Edited August 31, 2010 by Tid

Still not sure what went wrong back there but maybe I'll give it another go some time. The radio update and first couple of reboots can take a pretty long time and it does seem like it's frozen at times, you probably just had to give it longer. My usual rule of thumb if I think my phone might be frozen after a radio flash or something is to go in another room where I can't look at it, make a cup of tea or do something that takes a good 5-10 minutes and takes my mind off of it, and if it still looks frozen after that then I'l start thinking about pulling batteries and things. A watched pot never boils.
Guest Tid Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 (edited) ... A watched pot never boils. What a wonderful phrase, I'm going to have to use that in conversation. Perhaps I was just to impatient, I waited 5 minutes then went and got some food; must have been about 10 minutes all in all. Next time I'll just leave it. EDIT: Ok well I couldn't resist giving it another go. Got to the same point, I've now been waiting for something to happen for 75 minutes. If the pot hasn't boiled by now I'm assuming its not going to. EDIT2: As I should have known I had to do a wipe first, then it worked seamlessly. I'm so nooby. Thanks for the help guys, next stop custom bakes! Edited August 31, 2010 by Tid
