I was wondering whether I can freely replace the Linux kernel of my phone.

This may help a consistent WiFi problem I have.

I was thinking about using CyanogenMod kernel.

Use the new radio which you can find at xda-developers forum...

the wifi should run better with it...

Thanks, I will try it.

What about my question of replacing the kernel? I know that the CyanogenMod kernel has several WiFi related fixes (bcm4329.ko).

bcm4329.ko is module for a kernel.

So it has to be patched for our Kernel and therefore we have to wait for the Kernel Sources.
