Guest castlebrae Posted February 6, 2003 Report Posted February 6, 2003 I find that I have to take the USB connection in and out a number of times before Active Synch finds the SPV. I am using winME and active synch had never been insatlled before and I have no other USB devices. It is not a big problem, but i want to be sure I wont damage the SPV by doing this. ??
Guest SPARKY Posted February 6, 2003 Report Posted February 6, 2003 Hi again, I have not had this problem myself, i am using windows XP, are you having problems with getting the software to launch itself when you connect the SPV to the cradle, or can you not get it to see the phone at all,if it is not launching itself, you can open it yourself from your pc desktop then select file and chose "connect". other than that you may just have a faulty connection, or you could try re-installing activsync. Best wishes Sparky
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 6, 2003 Report Posted February 6, 2003 Welcome to the site  You will not damage your phone doing this it will be ok ;) Have a look in this link as you may need to reinstall activsync but you might also find some more information that may be of use to you. synchttp://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=142 I have encountered windows not always seeing a usb device before an it can be a pain and I do the same as you. (try changing to a different port) I use ME and have not encountered the problem with the cradle as you do.
Guest castlebrae Posted February 6, 2003 Report Posted February 6, 2003 Thank you both, I will look into this
Guest yatpeak Posted February 7, 2003 Report Posted February 7, 2003 I often have this problem. It wont hurt anything, I think that activesync is just a badly made program. Wyatt
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 7, 2003 Report Posted February 7, 2003 I think WinME is just a badly made program, the number of problems i had with various USB devices using it. My advice: give up, shell out 70 quid and upgrade to XP Home :)
Guest castlebrae Posted February 9, 2003 Report Posted February 9, 2003 I tried to insatll Xp, but it only goes half way through an install. nad crashes so well that a fdisk is required! Next time I will use my old Win 98SE, it was definately more stable.
