Guest digthemlows Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 US Dell Streak, not rooted.......... So my 'notifications" will show 2 different email icons, one will have many more "unread" messages, but both go to my same gmail account. One has different settings though (has a signature, etc.) The "different" one I can only access from the notifications, and it just recently showed up. The other account I can't seem to get to unless it shows up in "notifications" ......... Any ideas? One icon is an @ symbol and the other is an envelope symbol...............
Guest burstatron Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 I think one will be the stock gmail app that's built in, the other a third party app mail appyou may have installed. I see this too with maildroid as my preferred app, gmail is duplicated by the stock build.

I haven't installed a 3rd party, but I did have to set up my password and such when I "shared" a photo from my pictures the other day............any ideas on how to undo one of them??
Guest Spike8585 Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 There seems to be a stock widget for mail with my US Streak, and G-mail too. Can we disable g-mail native app? Or is there a widget for G-mail native app?
Guest burstatron Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 I have he UK o2 build. There is a stock mail app (envelope and @) the gmail mail app (envelope with M), and my third party so potentially three. As gmail account is used for a lot of things I guess you set up your mail app, and gmail widget/app shares your password with another Google service. If you only have a Google account you could set the 'email' one (env & @symbol) to check frequency never and just use the gmail one.
Guest prawnballs Posted August 31, 2010 Report Posted August 31, 2010 (edited) You can disable the GMail app from syncing through 'Settings' -> 'Accounts & Sync' -> '[email protected]' -> untick Sync 'Google Mail' In the stock Email app you can delete your GMail account by going to 'Account' (from within the Email app), then long-press on the account you want to remove, the click 'remove account' Edited August 31, 2010 by prawnballs

So when I said email it had me enter my gmail info, which at the time I just thought was a glitch or something, but was really setting up the email client. I deleted the gmail account from the stock email app and all is well. again, thanks!
