Questions before i get my Streak (questions posted)

My name is Jon and I am new to the Streak,

Im currently in Hong Kong (but not from Hong Kong)

I am currently using the Milestone and planning to switch over to the Streak (unlocked UK version) but i have some questions to ask before making final decisions

1) The Streaks comes with Stock 1.6, i know that the Streak (UK version) has just released the 2.1update. If i get my Streak (UK version) in Hong Kong, will i be able to update to 2.1 via system update?

i dunno how the "system update" works but does the Streak enters the UK database to get updated or how does it work?

2) okay, if 1) doesnt work for me, say that i will follow modaco's manual 2.1update, will the 1.6 stock be erased?

3) i will be purchasing the Streak (unlocked version), so i assume that it will run any sim cards even it is a sim card from Hong Kong? e.g. Smartone-Vodafone (one of HK's network providers) etc? I will be able to use the Data/3G/HSPA normal instead of roaming, will i be correct?

4) I would like to ask if there are any Streaks hackers nearby, hacking the Streak to run HTC Sense UI or Galaxy S roms etc (i know what u guys will say to me, "if u want Sense UI or Galaxy S, why dun u just get a HTC or Samsung phone?") ----------- the reason why i asked this question is bcoz i am just curious to know if there will be modding to be done coz i am used to hack my HTC Dream and Milestone <-------- i am just curious asking this question only, please dun get too serious about it :huh: i do love the Streak's new UI tho......

To Paul or other smart people out there: if 4) is a pain in the ass, please forgive me, Streak is a totally different device than other Android phones and at the moment, i am very new to Streak so please forgive me if it has offended u in any ways

I hope some smart people out there could give me some answers/opinions/clues on whether i should get the Streak or not, im counting on u guys ;)

1) Yeah, but even if you cant, you can just download some roms from here and install them no problem.

2) 1.6 will be gone whether you upgrade officially or not. But you can always flash 1.6 again.

3) Yeah, but unless the network is the same frequencies, it may not work properly.

4) Yeah, but Dell hasn't released the kernel source code which makes cooking custom roms all but impossible right now. Once the kernel is released we'll see more of this. Right now there are no sense or galaxy S roms.

1) whats the difference between the unlocked O2 Streak and a Beta Streak <--- where does this come from (US/UK)?

2) when i am about to purchase the Streak, what do i need to look out for? or do i just go to youtube and just watch the vids on unboxing O2 Streak and thats it? lol

1) the unlocked come with a warranty buy direct from Dell and it will be unlocked, there are NO unlocked o2 streaks.

The beta units were given out by Dell for participants in a USA running event. A lot of them have been blocked by AT&T.. they don't have warranty
