Guest crash6 Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 (edited) ok folks can someone give me info here, i think ive reverted the volume keys to what they are in 1.6 but i need confirmation. my current keys do the following: near headphone socket: volume down near power: volume up is this the default of reversed layout ? Mine are different from this by default. Running beta streak, upgraded to 2.1 beta. near headphone socket: volume up near power: volume down I much prefer how it was in the first 1.6 build. The volume rocker reversed itself when you rotated the device. ie; portrait (music app and such) near headphone socket: volume up near power: volume down Landscape (default launcher, youtube) near headphone socket: volume down near power: volume up This was very nice. Guest Stephen Hyde Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 (edited) this edit should work on any of the 2.1 roms not just the new one ok install howto for the fixed buttons. im assuming you have adb installed already and have a rooted device (official update it prerooted although insecurly) and also that you have busybox installed as we need cp download the file : http://downloads.nitdroid.com/djsteve/streak/surf_keypad.kl some users have mentioned that the way that one works is the same in that case try this file instead: download the file : http://downloads.nitdroid.com/djsteve/streak/surf_keypad2.kl throw it onto your sd card somewhere (root folder is recommended) then run the following commands - im assuming your using windows here adb shell su mount -o remount,rw mtdblock6 /system cp /system/usr/keylayout/surf_keypad.kl /sdcard/surf_keypad.bak
if your trying the first file linked above then the next command is this :
cp /sdcard/surf_keypad.kl /system/usr/keylayout otherwise its this: cp /sdcard/surf_keypad2.kl /system/usr/keylayout/surf_keypad.kl then reboot your streak to apply reboot let your streak reboot and the volume buttons should be swapped round. please let me know if this works/helps EDIT: ok for now looks like thats the best your going to get as theirs no obvious way of swapping the keylayouts for portrait Edited September 3, 2010 by Stephen Hyde
