Guest 9a6or Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 ... and how do we backup before upgrading?
Guest vinokirk Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 You may not loose any setting, depending on how you go about it. You can always use Titanium backup

Guest Loconinja Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 Everything is wiped, except your SD card. If you are using Google mail, contacts and calendar, then all your details will be re-synched after entering your credentials on the upgraded phone, so no need to back them up. You will have to re-install all your apps, but the market remembers which ones you have previously installed and bought. You will lose your text messages unless you back them up.

The google contacts etc. are restored after the upgrade but only if the google account was set to synchronize while using the streak before the upgrade. Mine was not so I had to rely on the .csv exported by UiA Backup Contracts which had a lot of blank fields... it took me an hour to work out the names belonging to numbers, then importing the contacts to gmail on a PC and then synching with the streak via the account. I've also lost some data I did not know was stored in the phone's memory. I don't store important data on my streak but this upgrade can easily lead to data loss. O2 or Dell should give more detailed instructions on how to backup before their upgrade.
