Guest Stevie B Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 HELP! New Desire with HBOOT 0.75 - attempted to root. Created goldcard ok and proceeded on to next step using the step1_windows.bat Various errors seen (unfortunately lost as did a logcat after) something along the lines of too many links... This has resulted in me being unable to see anything on the screen??? The phone is functioning as can access via adb, logcat shows responses to screen touches etc. but no display at all. It would be one hell of a coincidence if the screen/backlight has died at the same time i got the file transfer errors. Can somebody give me some guidance as to how I can recover PRETTY PLEASE?

You say new desire.. does it have an SLCD screen? (As appose to OLED) If so I believe thats the problem. Someone else should probably confirm as I'm fairly new to all this, but I'm pretty sure you can recover back to normal then re-root with a method that is compatible with the SLCD screen models. EDIT: Oh and lots of people have this issue. See this thread from a couple of days ago. Edited September 4, 2010 by Tid

Thanks for your reply
Guest Stevie B Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 All fixed by following xda topic - had to flash an updated RUU. This had the positive benefit for me to automatically ask me if I wanted to upgrade to 2.2
