I like!! Plus it's not a bad alternative to the Dell Stock Keyboard. Oh if you havent heard Swype works on 1.6 as well I'm pretty sure if you use Swype you will forget ALL about the stock keyboard. I'm guessing swype doesnt work on 2.1 as its coming up with a screen size error for me. The 2.1 keyboard is just as gash as the the leaked 2.1 keyboard which was why i returned to 1.6. I get a lot o typos using the new keyboard and every time i hit delete i type L.

LOL, I had that issue as well. Whenever I tried to delete something it would type a L or whatever into the text box so, here's what I did to fix mine. I recalibrated the screen then did a factory restore that made the stock keyboard function work flawlessly after that. I think that I may have screwed things up by trying to install the WRONG version of Swype. Remember I'm still on the 1.6 version and yes it's old but it’s not that bad IF you find the right apps to run and yes a good keyboard goes a long way in making the streak relevant who wants to use the internet on this thing if they can’t type on the keyboard-- it’s a pain….

Any chance of you doing a dump of the keyboard apk file from your 1.6 ROM, so I can experiment with getting it to run on 2.1?
Guest popetodd Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 (edited) We tried this last month. The apk is available on another thread where we were discussing this, I'll see if I can find it again and post a link. Problem was that the old keyboard apk needs a class that doesn't exist on the 2.1+ build. With the release of the sources we can try to see what the requirements are and bring them over for the 2.2 source based build but until then it's probably not going to work. At least from experience just installing the apk does not work. [EDIT] Here it is: http://android.modaco.com/content/dell-str...3/1-6-keyboard/ Edited September 30, 2010 by popetodd
