Guest purplebadger Posted February 6, 2003 Report Posted February 6, 2003 Hello all, Sorry if I'm being really dense, but is there a way you can get the phone to download entire emails but leave a copy on the server as well? I thought this is how I had it set up but it still seems to be downloading the mail and deleting it on the server which I don't want it to do. I want it to download my messages so I can read them on the go, but when I connect Outlook I'd like that to download and then delete them. I'm tend to download email on my phone to keep up to date, but then delete it as soon as I've read it so as to save space. Any suggestions? The only way I can think of is to download just the first so many bytes but if I do that, I don't always get all of the email. Cheers guys,
Guest mattat Posted February 6, 2003 Report Posted February 6, 2003 Try using the IMAP account of your e-mail provider (assuming that it has one). Try this: 1) Goto Inbox, 2) Select Menu --> Options 3) Select E-mail set up 4) Go through to server type and select IMAP4 5) Then for incoming mail server change pop.xxxxx.xxx.xx. to imap.xxxxx.xxx.xx (where x=current settings) (or whatever the IMAP address of your e-mail provider is) 6) Go through to end of e-mail options, 7) Now when you check it should leave a copy on the server. Apologies if I am totally wrong on this.... Matt
Guest Bazz Posted February 7, 2003 Report Posted February 7, 2003 It will automatically leave it on the server. However, if you delete it on your phone then the next time you connect it will delete it on the server.
Guest yatpeak Posted February 7, 2003 Report Posted February 7, 2003 Thanks Bazz, I was wondering why it took two connections to delete them. Wyatt

That's actually a bit annoying - I thought having lots of emails stored on the phone slowed the perfomance?
Guest zenabi Posted February 7, 2003 Report Posted February 7, 2003 I think if you delete the emails from your SPV and emply the Deleted Items folder BEFORE you Send/Receive again, the emails will stay on the server.
Guest caio1 Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Are you sure that spv will delete the email on the server the next time you send/receive if you deleted them on your spv? I tried and they all are still there even after connecting 3-4times... I use pop3 & smtp servers Thank you. Caio
