Guest gillebob Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 AVG rate it as safe, and i've been using avg for several years with no probs'. anyway movies download fine on the pc just no luck on the streak.
Guest Amdathlonuk Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 (edited) I'm trying to sort movies out for the streak myself. Can't seem to find the correct format or resolution though. I've just purchased A!mersoft Video Converter Pro which seems to have most phones listed but not the Streak! Anyway if I choose a 800 x 480 format it only fills half the screen? very odd, I have to choose something like 1280x960 for it to fit the whole screen properly. I have a DVD converting now into MP4 so fingers crossed as I want VERY good quality, the 3 minute clip the trial versin gave me was very impressive. Edited September 5, 2010 by Amdathlonuk
Guest Green750one Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 If you want to play movies in just about any format, get Rockplayer - from www.anplayer.com - the armv7 version. No more converting files - it has codecs for pretty much everything!

Tried rock player and not a bit impressed, real player is the best i've found,,, still no help with downloading to the streak though :P

Have you tried to long press on the link? That usually brings up options, like Save As (note sure how its labeled on Streak browser). -Mike
Guest maskaler Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 Tried rock player and not a bit impressed, real player is the best i've found,,, still no help with downloading to the streak though :P Rock Player is excellent, not sure what your beef is with it? I get a solid rate (on 2.1) playing XVID/DIVX etc. Saves a lot of time not having to convert anything to a poxy phone format.
Guest j7seven Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 +1 for Rock Player. I'm still on 1.6 and happily watching xvids on my Streak.

Rockplayer has a poor UI and very jerky pixellated and out of sync playback, revisited rockplayer last night just to refresh myself and its definately inferior to realplayer, mind you i dont have any divx vids and only download mp4's.
Guest Green750one Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Hmmm. You sure you're using the arm v7 version (not available in the market last time I looked) Poor ui? Er, it has a simple but fully functional browser to navigate to file storage & standard "video" controls. What's poor about it? I'm not seeing any pixilation, jerkiness or out of sync playback. Maybe your downloads or conversions aren't that great. I used videora converter with my iphone - there's an android version available but with workplaces its superfluous as it'll play anything you chuck at it. As for downloading. I'm playing with swarm, but to be honest its quicker to download on a pc and copy the files across.
Guest jannism Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 +1 for Rockplayer. Excellent piece of kit. During the times my Streak actually worked, Rockplayer played everyting I threw at it, effortlessly.
Guest CSSL1212 Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 +1 for Rock Player. I'm still on 1.6 and happily watching xvids on my Streak. What is the resolution of the movie? i tried the arm7 rockpkayer which was lag for 480p avi files.
Guest Spike8585 Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 I just downloaded Rockplayer, as recommended above. Playing a divx on other players, was either choppy with a low fps warning, or soundtrack out of sync. Rockplayer seems to play it fine, but it is really pixelated. I don't think I am expecting too much from this screen, but the pixels seem really big. I download most of all of my movies in 1080p and all of my shows in 720p as mkv's. I downloaded a program to play mkvs, but it stutters way too much for 720p video. I thought this phone was able to play HD files? If I convert the 720p vids format, not resolution, could I play them? If so, what settings should I use? 720p, or re-encode them to 480p? Must be MP4 to play natively? Using H264? What framerate, 24hz, 30hz, 60hz? Thanks for any help.
Guest Amdathlonuk Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Yeah, I converted a full movie at 1280 x 960 (as that's all that seemed to fill the screen). It's in MP4 format but I'm disappointed with the quality, everthing looks like it's from lego it's that pixelated. I just can't seem to find anything that will make a decent quality movie and play on the Streak... Grr
