Guest Nemesii Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 For those who are confused, this means soon we will hopefully have read/write access to system without having to boot into recovery.

Very interesting - but the date on the screen is 10th June... I remember some talk about this on MoDaCo & XDA around that time, but the general feeling was that we couldn't flash it... this was where the other idea of using an overlay file system came from.... ... unless there has been some exciting developments since -=- a hard SPL would be freakking awesome and I *hope* this is it!!!
Guest diamondgar Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 Hope this comes through, i was just frustrated last night at not having full root. Would be the icing on the cake if we have full access with the latest and greatest froyo roms.

The date on the screen is when the SPL was made by HTC. This is a true engineering SPL. For general consumption, we will probably be releasing a patched SHIP hboot (also to support SLCD and such, which we don't know if it works with this)

Excellent work matey..
Guest ernest33 Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 If we look at the radio version on the ss. It seem it's one of the latest radio...no ? :P (XDA thread about radio on DESIRE) Hope this dream come true soon :)
Guest mrshark Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 If we look at the radio version on the ss. It seem it's one of the latest radio...no ? :P (XDA thread about radio on DESIRE) Hope this dream come true soon :) if we root now with unrevoked 3.14, what have we to do when 3.2x will be available? can we "upgrade" the root to support s-off? have to go back to standard recovery and reroot with new version, or what? thanks
Guest kai84m Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 So you mean we will really get an Eng-SPL? The Unrevoked Method for Incredible, EVO etc. "just" sets a flag on the Radio Image to gain S-OFF.
Guest pfsykes Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 has any one one got an ETA on the release as it has been pulled due to some issue. also can you run this again if your have already unrevocked. Peter
Guest ernest33 Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 Still no news  ... Arrff :( they must have a lot of works to do to make that dream become reality :) PS : Just one question during the test they could brick the phone...how many phones they have to test :)
Guest Subject Delta Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 Unrevoked forever is the tool that does the S-OFF bit, Unrevoked 3.2 will not add this feature from what I can gather. Also, can someone please clarify if this is for the GSM desire, and not the CDMA version? Also, how do I know which version I have?
Guest EddyOS Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 If it's got a SIM card, it's GSM
Guest Subject Delta Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 If it's got a SIM card, it's GSM If that is the case, then surely this hack would apply to all Desires? I mean why the need to specify GSM :/
Guest kai84m Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 From day to day I believe that S-Off for GSM Desire wont come to the "public". It sounded so good but it became very silent around the S-Off GSM Desire issue. On the IRC-Channel unrevoked writes: "ASK ABOUT GSM DESIRE S-OFF ETA, GET SET ON FIRE!" I think they are pretty far away from S-Off - at least for GSM Desire
Guest Subject Delta Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 They are probably working on making the method more reliable so that it is ready for mass usage, I am sure it will come when it's ready
Guest Rudolfje Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 I think they are pretty far away from S-Off - at least for GSM Desire I don't. They tweeted that they already have it and will release it after 3.2. (or 3.2.1) We took a short break from unrEVOked 3.2 to get you GSM Desire folks an S-OFF hboot. http://bit.ly/c5PWMz [coming soon after we ship 3.2] I believe they'll get it done.
Guest kai84m Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 I don't. They tweeted that they already have it and will release it after 3.2. (or 3.2.1) I believe they'll get it done. Thats exactly it! They havent even released 3.2.1! I also read the twitter messages of unrevoked but i cant see any progress in S-Off at the moment. One day it might happen that they realease it i guess it'll take time!
