Guest sunny112 Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 Hi All, Does anyone else that has an Orange HTC Desire (UK) suffer from random restarts? I've just been given a replacement handset from Orange (as my last one kept dropping data connection) and this keeps bugging me constantly! I've been given a replacement sim card also and this has not made any difference. Cheers
Guest neo158 Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 (edited) I have an Orange branded Desire and I noticed the same issues you're talking about with mobile internet. I do know that the network does have issues sometimes and just turns off the mobile internet connection at random on the Orange branded ROM. You may have just got another screwed handset if it reboots at random, what app, if any, did you install before it started? I just used a gold card and flashed a stock Android 2.2 ROM and that fixed issues with signal strength and the mobile internet connection. Be aware that flashing a stock desire ROM WILL void your warranty but if a stable device is more important than the warranty for you then you could do that. Edited September 7, 2010 by neo158

Thanks for your help, glad to hear I wasn't the only one! :P This used to happen even before I installed any apps. I complained to orange who gave me another replacement handset and surprise surprise...this one was faulty also! The power button did not work when the phone was fired up. I eventually told them that I didn't want another Desire (as I believed that their replacements were actually refurbished/previously faulty units) and they offered me a Samsung Galaxy S instead which I accepted. Been playing around with this all day and no connection drops/random restarts and has a working power button! fingers crossed this keeps me going until my next upgrade! :)
