Morris Lee You can upgrade to any ROM you wish. I myself am using LCR 1.8.x Just follow the guides/forums on how to do this. User malez recovery image, then boot into recovery mode. From here, flash your new from from the SD card. One piece of advice - after you install the malez recovery image - perform a nandroid backup to preserve your rogers rom in case you ever wish to go back to it. Good luck. Guest willyaranda Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 But I think you should upgrade first the baseband, aka, the ROM that Acer provides. Now, it's something like 2.00… (don't remember exactly), then, you can install any ROM.

What IS LCR stands for anyway? is it based on the original ROM where everything will work but with extra enhancements? or is it completely done by the community? Morris Lee

Morris Lee LCR = Liquid Community ROM http://code.google.com/p/acer-liquid-commu...rom-bugtracker/ So far - everything works for me (wifi, bluetooth, etc.) I've not had any issues.

I tried this some time ago (before the current release) but when using the Acer tool to flash the .bin file, it complains that our model is ROG (ie. not EMEA etc) and will not flash the bin. Is there an alternate way to do this? (or override switch, .ini setting, etc..)

Guest jeffrohurt Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 Hey. Just did this the other week(stock Rogers to 2.100...) and never had a problem with the flash. Make sure the tool you use is an older version, like 3.1. After the flash, I did a nandroid backup(did one before too). Now have root and LCR1.8.0.1 on my Rogers liquid and everything's great.
Guest dennerjw Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 BE WARNED that there is no *complete* way to return the baseband to the stock version once you use the Acer tool to flash an official bin file.
Guest Morris Lee Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 BE WARNED that there is no *complete* way to return the baseband to the stock version once you use the Acer tool to flash an official bin file. Well Apparently if I unlocked my phone I would loose my warranty, and I have already unlocked it. Which ROM has really good battery life?
Guest Nighthawk McKenzie Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 BE WARNED that there is no *complete* way to return the baseband to the stock version once you use the Acer tool to flash an official bin file. There is a workaround if you have to send your phone in for repair/warranty etc.... Assuming you have a Nandroid backup of your stock ROM, you can re-flash the device with the Acer_LiquidE_0.016.01_EMEA_GEN1 bin file (using Acer tool of course). This will will restore the required baseband. Then, install Malez recovery, root the device and restore the nandroid backup. To finish off the process, restore the original recovery.img using the same procedure for malez recovery installation. I had a Rogers Liquid E which I had to exchange due to a faulty camera after flashing to Acer_2.100.07.EMEA.GEN1. This method came in handy because, as you can probably tell, Rogers isn't coughing up their bin file and will use any excuse they can to make you pay. Because I don't want to see anyone else go through this headache, I have attached a link to a package that has everything required to restore (including a nandroid backup of my device in case you somehow 'lost' yours  - use at own risk !) http://www.4shared.com/file/WozgSlC1/Resto...3_PA_ROG_R.html
Guest Chewy11 Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 hi thanks for the rogers dump my acer download tool will not let me update to latest bin file(current is 3.100) could I use mt malez recorery or boot load to help this? should i reinstall the acer drivers? am on LCR 1.8.2.1 and I love it
Guest roblund Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 I wish I had known about this site before I tried to upgrade my Acer Liquid E to Android 2.2. The upgrade failed, and now my phone is totally dead - a brick. Anyone have an suggestions?
Guest bellanano Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 Yes there is, i think you can restore your liquid, you have to download this file http://www.mcboydesign.fr/media/acer_liqui...e/amss_mode.zip First download and unzip archive. Then turn off the phone. (The USB cable must be disconnected). Press volume & photo & power (same time) .. The phone will vibrate twice and nothing happens on screen. Connect the USB cable and open the acer tool (of course if you're on W7 or view it you need to start with administrator rights). At this point you will see that you are connected in AMSS mode. Select the bin you want to flash , select "Select file QCN file manually" and click start. You will see a window, click "Yes" Wait for the flash and will continue when a new window appears select the file you downloaded earlier (desimlock.xml) .. At this point, do not touch anything and wait for the flash end ...

In the zipped file above, is there anything I must use for this exercise? Clueless me.

Guest roblund Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 My big problem is that nothing happens when I press the three-button combination. I managed to revive my phone by flashing the boot bin. So my phone work now, but still in Android 2.1. Is anyone aware of how I can get the three button thing to work. I suspect that part of the flash is not there. Is there a bin that can get it back to even the factory settings or something that will allow me to do the 2.2 upgrade?
