Guest fxyrslf Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 (edited) Hi I bought 2 new uk pulses, both came with 1.5. I attempted the official 2.1 update from the provided links here. On the 1st phone it worked OK, even though the restart screen froze - after a while I took out the battery and 2.1 booted ok. On the other phone (which was previously running t-mobile 1.5 ok) the update failed, the screen was just blank and didn't respond to and button presses, I took the battery out and when it attempted to reboot a garbled screen came up immediately after power up, then the usual android boot screen, the 1.5 "swipe to unlock" screen came up but the touch screen now doesn't work. I attempted the 1.5 downgrade process - that failed. I tried the 2.1 upgrade again - that didn't work either, it failed on install. Now my phone shows this garbled screen then hangs on the "android" splash screen. They are both U8220 and were ordered at the same time. Help! Is there anything I can do? Have you tried the official dec update or time machines followed by the dec update as mentioned in other threads? Edited September 6, 2010 by rjm2k
Guest Totyasrác Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 Read THIS first, thorougly. Please.
Guest krfan Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 Ah. Classic. I know you're worrying a lot. Me too!..of course, when i encountered the same probs such as (I) Garbled screen after start-up, and (II) Touch-screen no longer working. To get things sorted out, the very first thing you need to go from where you're stuck at now is: 1. Download the time-machine. 2. Flash December update. 3. Flash 2.1 Official UK update. 4. Run adb through USB to update amon ra 1.5.2 5. Boot into recovery, flash your preferred custom ROM from there. Essentially speaking, the garbled screen and the no-longer-responsive can be cured by following the FIRST TWO STEPS as i have written above. Doesn't work? Try again. There was one time Step 1 kinda failed and i thought that was the end of the world.
Guest fxyrslf Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 The December update did the trick, thank you.
