Guest RichB93 Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 (edited) So I decided to root my 8105 O2 OTA Streak. Used the 6941 superboot as I thought it would work. It now does that stupid flashing light thing and I cannot install a ROM with the install update from SD card (powering up with vol up+down), it just goes to a black screen. I'm extremely fed up as it seems I've bricked a £400 device and I don't have a clue on how to fix it as I know nothing about Android. Please help someone! Okay, I assume I could get it back to normal if I had the 8105 recovery image? If so could someone please post it? Thanks Edited September 6, 2010 by RichB93

Many thanks :P How should I go about rooting this then? Edited September 6, 2010 by RichB93
Guest galmpan Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 What build is this? I think is 1.6 stock .It is used for recovery after unsuccesful upgrade to 02 2.1. See http://android.modaco.com/content/dell-str...-the-o2-update/

Its one click doesn't break anything... Hehe, I'm such a nub! Many thanks for helping me fix this guys, I REALLY appreciate it. When I get a bit more experience with Android I'll have to by a subscription and try some custom ROMS :P

The image is prerooted though, some adb trickery to install Superuser.apk and su did the trick. Check the "is 8105 pre rooted?" Thread for more info :P

Guest radddogg Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 Androot very definitely does work. Yes it seems to take two attempts to root and to unroot for some reason.
Guest Asphytxtc Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 How odd, I gave it a good couple of attempts (I'm a firm believer in brute force!) all failed.. I'm probably just running an older version or something :-/
Guest Green750one Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 I found I had to soft root first, then "proper"root
