Guest fivegoldstars Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 Any Pulse and PS3 owners attempted the new PS3 jailbreak using their Pulse? Apparently it has now been ported to Android but only on rooted devices - I'm not at present. If it works, I may well become rooted once more. Pulse isn't on the compatability list but that could just be because its one of the more obscure phones.

Guest mojobrethen Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 just tried this on my pulse and doesnt work i got the info from http://www.ps3-hacks.com/2010/09/06/hack-y...-androiddesire/
Guest fivegoldstars Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 Sorry - didn't know if a link would be frowned upon! http://www.ps3hax.net/2010/09/psgroove-por...ire-and-others/ Looks like it all depends on the usb controller. http://psfreedom.com/wiki/index.php?title=...patibility_list
Guest niko1986 Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 As far as I know you need a modified kernel so a no go right now on the pulse
Guest starkos Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 Was waiting for someone to start a thread on this :) Unfortunately it's only for phones that use the MSM72K USB controller so far, I think ours uses MSM_HSUSB? I believe they're going to be porting for that too because some Heroes and G1's use it, but even then to get it to work with the Pulse we would still need the kernel source? I've been following this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=772795 the last few days, but it's all a bit too much for me to understand to be honest lol Therefore the above is just how I've interpreted the situation so far & any input/corrections is more than welcome? :P

MSM_HSUSB is the old function driver, MSM72K is the gadget driver. It appears that in newer kernels the MSM_HSUSB driver is not included (I'm not sure what is used in the official 2.1 roms). I have been following this for a while and the problem with using it on the pulse is that the MSM72K USB gadget driver in the 2.6.27 kernel appears to be broken. Since we don't have any other working kernel source, that means until we can get some working kernel source with a working USB gadget driver it won't be an option. Don't expect it to get ported to MSM_HSUSB. It needs a gadget driver. PS. I'm trying to get a newer kernel working. I don't like my chances, but I'll try.
Guest ColSonders Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 I'm running Kernel 2.6.29 on my Pulse, with firmware 2.1 Not exactly sure what the requirements are but i've been unable to get the zip files flashed onto my phone, they fail every time. My plan was to just keep trying everything they release until one works. It helps that I know to only look at the MSM72K stuff now though. Happy to essentially test anything though if anyone comes up with something, the Pulse is only used as an internet browser, not my primary phone and I have a second PS3 that i'm keeping on the 3.41 firmware.

Cheers for clearing that up, the driver thing was confusing me (and still is lol)! I'll attach the kernel config file taken from my own custom rom that is based on the UK 2.1 rom, although not sure if that actually helps your query on the included driver in the official 2.1 roms...
Guest The Dr Jones Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 (edited) any news on this? :P Hate to bring down the rain on the parade, but this particular project may now be a lost cause if this update does what is rumoured. Edited September 7, 2010 by The Dr Jones
Guest BigBearMDC Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Hate to bring down the rain on the parade, but this particular project may now be a lost cause if this update does what is rumoured. Who needs the sore anyway? :P I think there will be a workaround soon. Best regards, BB
Guest tux880 Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 (edited) ya there is a work around for that, useing a proxy any way GEOHOT made a CFW for the ps3 before and will again for this i am gessing, so it wont block this link Edited September 8, 2010 by tux880

I hope u didn't donate or donate too much to this guy as he absolutely wreaks of a scammer! I hope he isn't but pretty much every forum has the opinion he is... @BigBear: there's a couple methods to get online I think, one is to use something called Logan5 Tool, & the other is to change your network settings on the ps3 so your Primary DNS (& maybe secondary?) is set to 67.202.81.137 . Haven't personally tried either though...

Yap these hacks used to work earlier, but Sony fixed them =/ As far as I know there's now no possibility to go online with any other firmware than the most recent one =/ Best regards, BB

But people are reporting that Logan's tool work as well. PS: IMO DNS hack is easier :)

Guest ColSonders Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 So with the wealth of Android ports being released has anyone found anything that works on the Pulse yet?
Guest Willz Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 This is interesting. I haven't signed in on my PS3 for over a week, so I haven't updated yet. So I could still be tempted by this. :L
Guest stu232 Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 How much is the Pulse Mini these days? It's less than £100 that's for sure, if PSgroove was ported onto that phone it would cost the same as the original Jailbreak dongle yet be a fully functional android fone!
Guest Duckeh Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 Anyone able to port this to the pulse mini? :P Wish I could code :)
Guest BigBearMDC Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 Anyone able to port this to the pulse mini? :) Wish I could code :( Do you have one for me? I'd do it :P Best regards, BB
Guest ColSonders Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 Do you have one for me? I'd do it :) Best regards, BB How about one for the standard T-Mobile Pulse? :P If I had the necessary coding skills I would be working on this myself already.
Guest tux880 Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 (edited) so the hero has this link is there anyways to port it over to us? theres gotta be some one out there, im willing to donate and im sure lots of other people will for all are new homebrew apps and stuffz on are ps3's ....., Edited September 12, 2010 by tux880
