Guest meck73 Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 First post!! :) Recently updated my Streak to 2.1. Ive been happy with most aspects of the update and accepted a few of the issues. However, I have just noticed a problem with my wifi at home. I put my password in when asked (wpa) and it connects to my router it then constantly says it is trying to obtain an ip adress...then it says 'umsuccessful' before trying again... :$ I read elsewhere about assigning a static ip...so I tried that. It connects to my router no problem...but no internet connection. Can anyone help with this?? Its really annoying me now... :P !!!!!

Guest maskaler Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 I upgraded yesterday and am having this same problem. What router(s) are you guys using? Are you in built up areas with lots of WiFi connections? In the last place I was in we had a "Wireless N" router, I think made by LinkSys, which caused nothing but problems. My friends' Macs and my own Linux machine could connect without issue, but Xp and Win7 machines had problems. My friend and I had a similar issue on holiday - my linux netbook was fine, his XP one wasn't, and my Streak connected only sporadically, sometimes hanging on "Obtaining an IP address". I ended up getting a new router in the last place as it was a major headache, so I guess I'd suggest trying other WiFi routers before condemning the Streak. If it all worked fine in 1.6, failing in 2.1, then, well, that sucks. I found the WiFi in the beta much, much better than with 1.6 and will be reinstalling the beta tonight on my new, non-smashed insurance Streak...
Guest JaysFreaky Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 I'd make sure you're not set to A or N mode. The Streak only supports B and G. It also couldn't hurt to try flashing your image again. Sometimes that fixes these kind of issues.
Guest digthemlows Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 Deleted the "remembered" location, then set it up again.....works fine now
