Guest David_P Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 Hi all, Does anyone know of a way to increase the maximum volume level of the desire. Primarily I would be looking to up the speaker volume as driving directions on the motorway seem just a little too quiet for me, but I know others are looking to have more volume on headphones and Bluetooth also? Any help greatly appreciated. David_P
Guest Paveway98 Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 I'm also struggling with low volume - specifically on Bluetooth. Seems a lot lower than on my WM device using the same BT headset.
Guest David_P Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 I have seen on XDA that the vanilla ROM's seem to be "louder" than the Provider ROMs. What could be the difference allowing the very same hardware to better perform on Vanilla Froyo in comparison? David P

David P Paul definitely should work on this point for r9. Some other guys did it. I'm sure you can do it too Paul :-p
Guest Karl_ Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 The speaker volume is something that I was quite disappointed with when I switched to the Desire from my Nokias. I used to be able to hear the Nokia ringing anywhere around the house, but I can barely hear this phone from the next room, so if it's feasible for a volume boost to be added, I'd definitely be very appreciative of that. Guest psych0t1c Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 Have you rooted and s-Offed your phones? Iin that case you can copy the stock ringtones, convert them to mp3, use mp3gain to crank up the volume and copy them back. Ugl workaround but it does the trick. For driving in a noisy car I would consider purchasing a Fastmute box and installing it. That will put the device output onto the vehicle audio system,. In one ROM i Tried there a apk called DSPControl or something like that, I did not like the rom, so i went back to MoDaCo R9 and put the apk on the phone, but it does not seem to work. Maybe Paul canimplement that. It allowed to add volume to the different audio profiles and even make a cirtual 3d-Sound for the headphones.

Forget about all this crap (no offense mate) but on another ROM I tried (Cyanogen or LeeDroid), the sound was much more powerfull without any APK or Fastmute.....It was simply louder. So I'm sure Paul can do his magic on that point too. Then the desire would be almost perfect ^^
Guest psych0t1c Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 Well as I said, it's an ugly workaround, and complicated, but if someone needs a quick solution before Paul get around and do magic it still is better than missing calls or even worse wakeup phone alarms because the damn thing is too silent. Oh, if not rooted, you can of course take any LOUD MP3 (clip) as a alarm, ringtone or notification. Just create /media/ringtones or /media notifications etc on the SDCard and copy the proper mp3s over there, then select it. That said, I find the speaker on the Desire pretty crappy. I think there was a reason HTC capped volume to that degree, play anything with more massive, louider volume and it will crankle and sound distorted. But maybe that is just my device or the mp3 I tried. Hope the Desire HD will hold up better.
Guest rowanparker Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 Personally, I find the speakers to be loud enough when its a ringtone. The main problem I have as the in-call volume, its just not loud enough. You can't just put it speaker because the speakers on the back so not really possible. Any fax for the in-call volume? Or is it only me with this moan?
Guest doom71 Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 I am also only having issues with the in-call volume when i'm on BT. I use a Jabra headset. On my previous phone (N95-8Gb) the in-call volume was much better. Any means to improve this would be much appreciated, either in the rom or by an app.
