AudioOut on Pulse

so recently a friend discovered that audio loudness on headphones can be almost like a decent mp3 player. here is how:

Open your favorite mp3 player. choose song and set it to play. (headphones disconnected)

Connect headphones (this way you avoid the "low quality sound bug")

Start FM Radio. (set it to some freq that there isnt a station, only the hiss sound. Audio power looks almost doubled now, at least on pulse minis)

i used mort player, default player, LCG jukebox and rock player (for movies). sound was amazingly loud and clear.

now if there is some braniac to figure what where and why is this happening we might get pretty powerfull media player from lame android limited powers :P

Heh, start the FM radio.

Might have some problems there :P

no, seriously. i had no idea :(

Don't worry about it. I think Huawei phones will always lag behind the leaders in terms of features (that's the experience so far anyway). I hope my next phone will be a decent Android 3 phone...

Thanks for the thought though. :P

who needs a fm radio anyway. just one more piece of hardware to drain the battery.

I never saw the point in having an FM radio on a smart phone. I'd rather listen to my own music or use Last.fm & Spotify.

So the problem is that the headphones aren't loud enough? Play with /etc/AudioFilter.csv. With no AudioFilter at all the sound on the pulse is loud but distorted. I'm sure you could get a bit more volume out of it without introducting distortion.

So has the Pulse some kind of integrated but fixed equalizer? Because that's one of the features I miss the most. I want to have a real bass on my surround sound system :P

Best regards,

Something like that. I haven't looked into it much, I just copied the AudioFilter from the eclair roms to fix the distortion I was getting in froyo, but there is information out there on how to adjust AudioFilter on HTC phones for different results. The same probably applies to the Pulse. Check google and xda-dev for more info.

ow and no distorsion at all (just a small hiss sound from the fm player when track is changin, otherwise its ... amazing)
