completely lost HTC Desire root

when i first got my desire, i rooted it within a week, but unrooted just before froyo was released, then updated to OTA Froyo

now realising it was a bad idea to unroot, i want to root it again

tried unrevoked, just gets stuck on "flashing recovery image. Do not touch the phone", sits there for hours if i let it

tried to follow this guide but when i get to "When a black screen appears with a red triangle, press and hold 'Volume Up' then tap 'Power'." it never gets to the black screen, just reverts back to FASTBOOT

any help?

afiorillo, when i read that i thought, jackass, but now i changed my mind, Thank You, it surely did work as it should with Linux

oh how glad am i that i have a Ubuntu Live disk always hanging around somewhere!!
