Guest fards Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 anyone else got a spelling mistake? I've have been tweaking mine, but this is in the original I think. ro.build.APP_ORIENTATION_LANADSCAPE=1 also has anyone tried disabling any of the features in there, such as logfilter, or the debug or any idea what ro.build.FEATURE_BENDER_UI=1 does ?

Guest fards Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 OK worked out either the landscape or bender does.. just need to work out which it is Anyway I've acquired a neat menu :P

Guest fards Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 Cool. I missed that thread, must have been buried in-between all the"help I've flashed the wrong rom from another operator despite being told not to" threads..
Guest peekofai Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 cool. anything else we can change? i dint make the RSS change cos i'm not sure what it's removing
Guest fards Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 cool. anything else we can change? i dint make the RSS change cos i'm not sure what it's removing Widget for RSS feeds, its always running There are plenty others I think for other devices that may work, found one earlier for droid x that claims to aid scrolling speeds, but didn't try it.
Guest spences10 Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 Check this out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768397 Ahhh, loving the stock menus Not sure what amendments Paul made to the MCR but there are a ton of throughput improvements that were added to the G1 build.prop, not really contributing much here am I 0_o Thanks GreenArcher
Guest fards Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 here's the thread I was referring to earlier. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=771232 no idea whether they would work with the streak or not.. only one way to find out :P
Guest Meltus Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 i changed ro.sf.lcd_density to 200 and had some... well.. bizarre results lol. Gonna mess some more :P
Guest miker71 Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 it's mad that a lot of these properties don't seem to be documented anywhere that I can find on google (most google searches turn up pasted versions of people's build.prop). - just another way it reminds me of the config.sys for DOS back in the day .. (yes I am that old) getting rid of the Dell menu customisations, definitely going to be doing that ....
Guest peekofai Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 something strange with my build prop. some of those options: ro.build.OEM_CUSTOMIZE_O2=0 ro.build.CUSTOMER_CONFIG_O2=0 ro.build.APP_RSS_WIDGET=0 ro.build.FEATURE_BENDER_UI=0 came up twice. i changed them initially and was about to upload when i decidedto have one last look. went in there and saw the values still at 1 (towards the end of the build prop.) I was sure i'd changed them the first time and savedthem so scanned the document quickly only to find the ones i'd changed in the middle of the document. just letting you know just in case you're making these changes and it's not sticking. PS: i have not deleted the duplicates for fear of breaking something but set them to 0 as well
Guest Meltus Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 Here we go, some comparison screenies for you :P Personally i MUCH preferre the ro.sf.lcd_density being set to 120, it gives you much more screen space. Here are the 2 normal screenshots with the 'ro.sf.lcd_density' set to... whatever it normally is, and the 2 comparison screenshots set to 120. Normal Browser and Normal Navigation LCD Density set to 120 You can go lower but it kinda gets a bit unusable :)
Guest fards Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 (edited) yeah I had it set to 120 for a while, its neat, but even more badly written apps mess up :P I tried it originally to see if it would help with teh launcher icon spacing, but no good. I wonder if theres a DPI setting inside teh launcher apk? overall its fun though ! EDIT : I've just tried it again, after your post meltus, and this time all my homescreen icons are smaller, as is absolutely everything else. (still crap spacing though) Wonder if changing the "Lanadscape" error changed it, either way it's mega mega HI-res now :) where's my magnifying glass.. Edited September 10, 2010 by fards

Haha yeah, set it to 80, it's pretty much impossible to do anything!! :( I like it at 120, more screen space in the browser, more space in Navigation, more space in everything! :P

Guest vinokirk Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 Thats amazing! A spelling mistake? Dell are like a bunch of teenagers having a go at making a phone compared to the rest of the phone makers out there
Guest Meltus Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 Thats amazing! A spelling mistake? Dell are like a bunch of teenagers having a go at making a phone compared to the rest of the phone makers out there Because of a spelling mistake? That's harsh. Your post isn't exactly grammatically perfect either! :P
Guest fards Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 you should see the amount of smelling mistakes (natch) that HTC used to get into the registry. I'm surprised half of their roms even booted :P

Guest Meltus Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 Yesh buf im noty bilding a fones¬¬! lol :) good point. If you want to see some funny stuff download the android source and look through it. Some of the comments are things like "// I don't know what this does" or "// Who did this?". Doesn't fill your heart with confidence tbh :P
Guest fards Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 http://android.modaco.com/content/t-mobile...prop-editor-v2/ Worth a look at? No where near a PC so can't try it, but I'm interested to see what changes it makes
Guest spences10 Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 Has anyoner played around with dalvik.vm.heapsize=40m in the build.prop?
