Guest GTEE97 Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 I have had the phone outside in an open area for an hour and a half now, no satellite acquistion, clear skies in Duluth GA! I have tried to set it other COM ports through the Garmin XT settings, but after selecting COM5 or COM9, Garmin always resets it back to COM8. I can find no GPS control options through Windows Mobile settings menus. Is there something I have to do to 'unhide' GPS control options? Any help would greatly appreciated by this noob!!!!
Guest chopperthedog Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 (edited) Lets cover some basics first. The phone radio needs to be on. Guest chopperthedog Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 (edited) It's also best not to hold device as it is getting a lock. Just set it on a table and give it about 45sec. and watch status. good day. Edited September 9, 2010 by chopperthedog

I was so down in the details of what everyone else was doing with all the other GPS settings I totally overlooked the obvious! I appreciate this place and everyone here who helps the newbies. Hopefully one day I can return the favor. Edited September 9, 2010 by GTEE97

I hate to show my ignorance here but...GPS doesn't appear on my Services tab. Is this part of the basic ROM setup, or only added when certain GPS navigation programs are added? I do have a worthless navigation program - but as I said - no GPS option under the Services tab.

I just went through the menus as previously described, and have GPS among the list of many other things for which I can "Change Setting". I am running CF03 in my Omnia i910, DF14 & DF22 are newer; maybe you have the original version that locked out GPS settings?

However, I would've thought the set up and access would be the same over the product line as a whole - guess not. My Radio ROM is original and is a JJHL3 (PDA is JJIA1)
